An MP3 player is an MP3 player, no matter who makes it.

The biggest problem is trying to get your wife to understand, that most of the new players don’t use batteries, so she needs to recharge it every so often.

Even my 11 year old daughter remembers to recharge her player.

And don’t even get me started on the recharging of cell phones…

Just a side note …

If we bought Apple players all 4 of us wouldn’t be ABLE to have our
own.

One daughter bought a Creative Zen Vision M 30gb 3 years ago, and never had
a single problem with it .. ever. Whe was able to figure out how to use it without
my help. Likewise the Zen V 2gb players the rest of us have. NEVER a problem
and so easy the wife can use it.

‘Normal’ people who are more concerned with quality product AND better pricing usuall go with something
else ( All four of us in my family have Creative players ). We’re pretty normal.

Apple will sell a wire-only with the control so you can use whatever headphones you like.
And Apple’s target consumer are not the visitors of p2pnet. You may dislike Apples products and pricing, but you can’t ignore the fact that they sell a very popular product that targets “normal” consumers. By normal I mean regular people that are not into tech and gadgets like most of the people reading this page. “Normal” consumers want a good experience, and that is what Apple is selling. A easy concept that even non-tech people gets.

As someone who hates all things apple, the 2nd gen shuffle was pretty cool. But holy crap they are expensive! I bought my creative Zen Stone for 30 bucks. Its 2 GB, has a display and no iTunes (or any software managment) thankfully! Its only slightly bigger than the 2nd gen shuffle, just without the clip.

Actually on second thought they have a very compellling advert of the new shuffle on apple.ca that just may change my mind! maybe I will let my wife buy me a NEW shuffle!! We ALL need stimulate the economy

My Apple Shuffle recently died by drowning in te washing machine, it was my wifes fault really , but i am more tempted to buy a knock off huffle at the discount warehouse store for $15 than pay $80 for a redesigned Shuffle.
