Fantastiskt vinyl single gets $3,650 on eBay
p2pnet news view Music | Cool:- Why worry about selling 1,000 records when you only need to sell one to make your money — and save on packaging too?
Here’s an eBay auction page featuring ONE (only 1) copy of Fantastiskt.
It’s by Swedish rock band Bon Hund and, “will be sold and delivered as an art piece”.
It comprises the original master dubplate vinyl (the only existing copy) mounted on a real working turntable with cover art, song lyrics and monogram etched onto the lid by the artist Martin Kann,” says the blurb.
At 5:16 am Pacific with a little more than 39 minutes to go, it was at $2,175.00.
But when the hammer finally came down, it had reached an impressive $3,650 after 51 bids.
Not bad for a single 45, 12-inch single.
In his write-up, “Sweden is home, of course, to the folks who run The Pirate Bay, but it’s also the home of numerous indie bands and indie labels that are doing some really interesting experiments that focus on embracing the opportunities and possibilities presented by technology, rather than fighting against it all,” says Mike Masnick on TechDirt.
It gives solo performance a whole new meaning.
Will the buyer use it to produce his own versions of Fantastiskt?
Whose copyright?
Stay tuned.
(Thanks, Crosbie)

“It comprises the original master dubplate vinyl (the only existing copy) mounted on a real working turntable with cover art, song lyrics and monogram etched onto the lid by the artist Martin Kann….. it had reached an impressive $3,650…”
Probably more than a record label would have bought it for, had they sold it to them, press-ready and all.
Well, that may not completely accurate… after all, they would eventually make up the difference in royalties…
In about 15 YEARS!

Just a small thing, it’s bob hund, not Bon Hund (yes, no caps either
). They are known to be, well, wacky.
