MediaDefender Saaf, Octavio, hit the road

p2pnet news view Freedom | P2P:- When p2pnet posted MediaDefender boss Randy Saaf (left) and sidekick Octavio Herrera were being questioned by Las Vegas Police, although it was a satire, it seemed perfectly feasible.

The two run MediaDefender which is, among other things, infamous for posting fake download files on behalf of entertainment cartel hit organisations, principally Hollywood’s MPAA which then releases statements claiming the ’spoofs’ are the work of ‘pirates’.

But we should say ‘ran’  because it would appear that, like MediaSentry, another remora-like parasite company recently fired by Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony Music’s RIAA, it’s in trouble.

Miivi-owner MediaDefender has never been the same since its private data ended up online for all the world to see.

“A few months after the leak it became known that the data breach was proving exceptionally expensive, with MediaDefender`s parent company losing almost $1,000,000 because of the hack,” says TorrentFreak, going on:

“As a result, their stock price plunged and is now valued at a measly two cents per share and the company`s activities have noticeably decreased. BitTorrent site administrators told TorrentFreak that MediaDefender are not as active as they used to be.”

MediaDefender may still be around, loosely speaking, but Saaf and Herrara  have hit the road, according to an a SEC filing, says the story adding:

“Why the two left is not clear, but it’s the end of an era for sure. It wouldn’t surprise us if the company ceases to exist in the near future.

“Meanwhile, the two anti-piracy partners were elected to the Board of Directors of Jibro, Inc. a relatively unknown mobile entertainment company where they will continue to work together.”

Searching for a few words on Jibro and what it do, we came across this in Urban Dictionary:

“jibro is simply the word used following the action of masturbating successfully on the toilet, whilst having a poo-poo.”
‘Did you see that guy?? He looked like he just had a jibro’!”

Stay tuned?
