U2 Vertigo theft

p2pnet.net News:- “Edge has spoken of his astonishment that a CD containing some songs from the band’s new album has gone missing after a photo session.”

So says a post on U2’s site here which goes on to quote him as saying, “A large slice of two years work lifted via a piece of round plastic. It doesn’t seem credible but that’s what’s just happened to us … and it was my CD.”

A U2 rough of Vertigo vanished during a photo-shoot in the south of France.

The band recently completed much of the recording of the “highly anticipated” new album in Dublin, Ireland, and were doing post-production in France, says the post, continuing:

“It will be the first new studio album from U2 since All That You Can’t Leave Behind nearly four years ago.”

French police have already launched a “major” investigation.

“This matter is of great concern to us,” Lucian Grainge, chairman and ceo of UMG UK says.

It’s also of great concern to the p2p community.

File sharers don’t need idiots literally stealing music and posting it on the p2p nets.

yeh. Lets hope. maybe anyone who sees stuff from the new U2 online should leave it there.

  2. Reader's Write Says:

Wouldn’t it be interesting that to find out if while they are working on post production work, some phone calls or emails to Big Champagne are made over the next 6 months to see what singles are going where and are the most popular?

  3. Reader's Write Says:

Ahhh…the wheels of publicity. Why the heck Bono and the boys would carry a copy of their new songs to a photo shoot, is beyond me. Or maybe this is just ‘free’ advertising?? Oh heck no!

Here is where we will see the true U2 fans! I totally agree. I have been a fan since I was 12…and I would not touch a song if it got put on the net. I remember when some early work was stolen during the recording of Achtung. I have to admit a heard a few minutes of this tape that was mass produced, and it made me so angry. I felt that I couldn’t listen to anymore….It wasn’t meant for us to here. These four guys are artists. I don’t want to buy a copy of the mona lisa before it is complete. I want to see the product. The remember seeing an interview where some of the band members discussed the idea that pop was rushed due to touring schedules etc…..I know pop is not on the top of U2 albums….but I love it….and can only imagine what that album would have been if the band had waited a couple more months. Now I am rambling….True fans….BUY the album….In November!

  5. Reader's Write Says:

No….that why all is of this is being posted……So people don’t get all involved in that info….I don’t want to hear which single is coming when…Seems so against everything U2 stands for…fan or no-fan.

  6. Reader's Write Says:

It sounds as though the photo shoot was at the location where they were doing some more recording for the album…A dublin paper said they were working on some final touches in France….so I am sure it was with him for good reason. As for free advertising…they really don’t need it for want they truly want.

  7. Reader's Write Says:

Well, I’m a huge U2 fan … and still … I’ve been searching for vertigo on the net … ’cause I’m so damn curious … haven’t found it yet … Since the joshua tree (I was twelve then) I have been buying their albums on release date!
And I will keep on doing that.

In fact I found a piece of the stolen Achtung Baby tapes pressed on vinyl by the time I was listening to Pop, … I bought it … indeed … I was so damn curious!

If I would find it, I would never share it

  8. Reader's Write Says:

Well I love U2 since ever and I will buy the cd when ever is out for sale even if is compleatly available as a pirate copy online…I just can’t have a crapy online copy of their work…must have the original as it waS INTEnded for fans to have.

But I’m not saint and been as curiouse as I am if I do happen to stummble upon an mp3 of vertigo I will listen to it and download it because I could’nt just ignore it, I been dying to hear ANYTHING new from U2 so a sneek peek on vertigo will be a sin I would be guilty of. Sorry But I will buy the cd when is out nothing like the feeling of an original =)

though I must say it is terrible this cd got stolen…poor edge, he must feel mad and maybe a little guilty it was His copy

  9. Reader's Write Says:

I’d download it just to have a listen.. but yeah buy the album!

  10. Reader's Write Says:

I heard a bit of vertigo and it sucked! I don’t know what this is all about, but it ain’t rock. It’s like… dance or techno with edge playing a rock tune in the background.

If this is in fact u2’s new album, you can keep it. I was really letdown and I didn’t listen to the whole 8 minutes and something it had to offer.

I don’t see where Bono gets off acting like this is the end all beat all “WHO” inspired albulm, cause they’d laugh at it. Bono should really retract that statment.

  11. Reader's Write Says:

“Bono should really retract that statment.”

Once you realize, in fact, that you still have not heard U2’s “Vertigo” … hopefully you will retract yours.

  12. Reader's Write Says:

The Who laughing at U2?? I don’t think the Mr. Townsend is out of court yet is he? I’ve been a U2 fan since I was about 5 years old, so I’m biased but I’ll tell you there are some artist that are in the same class as U2 and The Who aren’t one of them. Don’t get me wrong The Who had some great work, but I think there’s a spirituality they never got. That’s a HUGE difference. So if The WHo are laughing, it’s because Bono isbig enough to give them such a flattering compliment! Anyways, as the posting said, “you haven’t heard vertigo yet” and appearently you haven’t
heard any of the rest of U2’s albums yet either! You can usually find their work at any record store, or ask a friend, they’ll have an album you can borrow.

  13. Reader's Write Says:

There you go. I agree to your comment. I’ve been a fan since 1982-83 when I was 15 and they first came to America. I’m so excited that Steve Lillywhite is producing and I can’t wait to buy the new album. Good Luck to the boys in getting into the Hall Of Fame on their first try.

  14. Reader's Write Says:

Yeah, I think I know who and what they are all about. I’ve been a fan since 1986, so don’t go jumpin’ to conclusions.

I heard a song… on the net… called Vertigo and it was U2, so… don’t know what to tell you. It was on Winmx peer to peer. I don’t have it or I’d be glad to let you listen to it. I’m not into taking music for free, it’s wrong and I think that a band like u2 deserves more than that. They’ve worked hard for over 25 years now and will no doubt go down in history as the greates band of all time.

Now then, maybe it was and maybe it wasn’t Vertigo… the guy said listen to it and I did. I thought whatever it was, sucked and sucked bad! It was popish disco stuff and I liked POP the album, and think it’s one of their best albums… guitar wise.

When’s the real song hit, by the way?

Also, the WHO are better than U2… ask George Harison, who hated u2.

  15. Reader's Write Says:

I sure am going to buy the CD when it’s out …

  17. Reader's Write Says:

    me too,I’m a big fan

  18. Reader's Write Says:

are you kidding? I just heard the full version mp3 of vertigo, and it’s amazing! PLUS I dont know where you get off talking about it as a dance tune, it’s U2’s patented blend of rock and soul, better than ever.
