EMI launches (wait for it) a blog!
p2pnet news view Music:- Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony Music still haven’t grasped that P2P is the distribution vehicle of the 21st digital century, and that filesharing is here to stay, whether they like it or not.
They’ll haemorrhage many more million of customers and potential customers, and further tarnish their already thoroughly discredited reputations, before they bow to the inevitable.
But at least one of them seems to have finally managed to clue in to a Net element everyone else has been using for years.
EMI (or at least, it’s Australian arm) has launched its very own blog, as laff check lets us know in a p2pnet Reader’s Write.
“EMI Australia has unveiled what it’s calling ‘the first major label blog’ in the world,” says Wired. “And as far as we can tell, that’s an accurate description. Apparently, no major label had thought to promote its music through its own blog until now.”
Wowee.
And it wants readers to act as unpaid talent scouts.
“If you think you’ve found the next big thing in music, send us a link to their music,” suggests the site, calling itself the Sound from Way Out.”
When you post, “By submitting a comment here you grant The In Sound From Way Out – EMI Australia’s Music and MP3 Blog a perpetual license to reproduce your words and name/web site in attribution,” notes laff check.
And, “Inappropriate comments will be removed at admin`s discretion.”
Meanwhile, back at the ranch house, ex-Google guy Doug Merrill is now a ex-EMI guy Doug Merrill .
He left the Greatest Advertiser on Earth to join EMI as itsĀ CIO, but has just been fired.
One of the innovative concepts he brought to EMI was the idea it’s pretty stupid sue your own customers.
In other changes, EMI boss Guy Hands has also been replaced by Elio Leoni-Sceti as CEO.
