p2pnet.net News:- P2p file share operator BearShare has launched BearShare Lite.
“It’s the only commercial file sharing product without adware or spyware - and we do mean the ONLY product,” BearShare’s John Busher told p2pnet.
“We’re taking a financial risk by doing offering this but we’re testing the waters to see how it’ll work. Ultimately, we hope to find some way to earn reveue from it.”
Users can still upgrade to BearShare Pro, “which allows users to get the files they want faster from more sources at once,” says BearShare ceo Louis Tatta.

This seems to imply that bearshare Lite is crippleware, but there is no information on their site that details this.

These files have nothing to do with WhenU or Save:
webstats.ini
webstats.exe
webstats.bat
These files are in the BearShare folder, not the Save folder. They are used locally, if the user wants to record statistics on files they are sharing with BearShare. Their use is purely local, and for the end-user’s purposes only. They are not adware or spyware.
Its the same as if Spysweeper detect that Microsoft had installed a file called Word.exe, and then claimed that it was spyware. Give me a break.

Well, this is a nice gesture, but i still think if you want truly adware and spyware-free p2p software, then you should get a client that wasn’t just designed to make dollars for its developers. I use WinMX and SoulSeek, and i’ve never had any problems with them.
