CBS fights ‘right breast’ fine

p2pnet.net News:- Janet Jackson’s right breast is back in the news.

CBS’ Moonves Vows To Fight Proposed Fine, says a header from Billboard here in reference to the possibility that the Federal Communications Commission might fine “CBS owned and operated stations” over the (in)famous Mammary Incident.

You remember – her breast ‘accidentally’ popped out during the Super Bowl telecast?

Justin Timberlake called it a “wardrobe malfunction”. FTC chairman Michael Powell called it “classless, crass and deplorable”.

Moonves, speaking at the Television Critics Association press tour,” made it clear that he and other top Viacom brass are growing increasingly concerned about the chilling effect of the push in Washington, D.C., to police indecency on the airwaves,” says the story.

The FCC has threatened to fine each CBS owned-and-operated station that aired the incident $27,500, says an Associated Press report quoted here.

It’s funny that television has for decades openly allowed the showing of topless black women – actresses or real-life people – as long as they show some defining feature of African tribalism(perhaps a tree-bark skirt or buffalo bone through the nose?)

Only a decade before the miniseries “Roots” brought nudity to commercial network television, “I Dream of Jeannie” was forced to cover up the star’s belly-button-exposing outfit. But then Barbara Eden is white.

There was an investigation into accusations that female US soldiers were being photographed in the showers at Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison – a place with an established – and US government supported – policy of forced nudity for prisoners.

Who invents these rules, anyway? And why is it that public nudity is “acceptable” in some circumstances but a crime in others?

I find it to be the height of hypocracy when the uber-moralistic rigid right can on the one hand condone “Hot Iraqi Knights: Hot Sex Under Starry Skies at Abu Gharib” and on the other screech indignantly about Janet’s tit. The rigid right are the most disgusting peices of dung around. AFreeMan
