X-Men: Origins – workprint online

p2pnet news view | P2P | Movies:- ” … thanks to the graphic model above, I will be ‘evaluating’ the X-Men: Origins WORKPRINT tonight with a glass of wine,” says surfer in a Reader’s Write to the p2pnet DarkNets post.

He won’t be alone.

And his comment is more than just a little appropriate considering he made the graphic which goes along with that story, which makes the point DarkNets aren’t tomorrow, they’re today.

With that in mind, the news that Fox’s X-men Origins workprint is already on the P2P networks — in spades — shouldn’ t come as any big surprise.

The final isn’t slated for official release until May 1.

“The FBI are investigating the online leak of an almost finished copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a month before the film’s cinema release,” says the BBC, going on:

“The Hugh Jackman film was downloaded an estimated several 100,000 times from file sharing websites on Tuesday.

“20th Century Fox confirmed the copy had now been removed and the FBI informed.”

The copy has now been removed?

Not even nearly.

What the BBC isn’t reporting is: the only way this workprint could have found its way to the P2P networks is from a Hollywood insider — just like a significant number of other first releases.

But through their MPAA, Time Warner, Viacom, Fox, Sony, NBC Universal and Disney continue to insist they’re being “devastated” not by people who work within the mainstream movie industry, but by kids with camcorders.

Stray tuned.

And you know what? It’ll be pulling in piles of money even though it’s on the networks. And you know what else? Lots of people who’ve seen the workprint and will want to see the final version on the big screen.

  2. Reader's Write Says:

If it turns out to be a copy from some billonaire director, will they seek major prison time like the guy who uploaded guns-n-roses?

“The FBI are investigating the online leak of an almost finished copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine… ”

hahahah, the FUDs couldn’t find their ass with both hands and a map.. in case not EVERYONE shares files and wonder about this ‘digital footprint’ that is forever embedded in these files (noted by the cartels as the end-all-beat-all in tracing file sharing activities), its an absolute fucking joke. They overlay a digital number in the right hand corner, or in the top center that is easily blurred out by the FIRST file sharing individual, essentially destroying their super secret squirrel decoder encryption technology with a blur filter. Oh, and the digital audio ‘watermark’ to find where the ‘cammer’ was sitting in the theatre, this is absolutely bullshit as well. File sharers don’t trade in raw data, we compress shit dumbass (towards the cartel, and specifically to Mitch ‘The Don’), in effect overlaying another ‘codec’ or translation from the original to another smaller compressed format, utterly obliterating their other super secret squirrel encryption efforts.

Copy of X-Men WORKPRINT, price: FREE
Watching the retards at the FBI running around trying to catch the insider who leaked the copy, cost: PRICELESS

    stw

    Wolverine’s Big Surprises: Some Revealed

Yes, I’ve seen “X Men Origins: Wolverine.” It wasn’t at a screening, either. I found a work in progress print of it, 95 percent completed, on the internet last night. Let’s hope by now it’s gone.

But the cat is out of the bag, as they say, and the genie is out of the bottle. There’s no turning back. But no, I will not tell you the big twist/surprise toward the end. Not now, a whole month away from release. That wouldn’t be nice.

Right now, my “cousins” at 20th Century Fox are probably having apoplexy. [...]

Now i guess Fox needs to prosecute this fox guy since when you download illegal movies via bittorrent for example you at the same time upload/distribute/make available those parts you ahve downloaded.
A fox entertainment guy Roger Friedman distributing stolen workprints! That must be 10 years minimum of course :-P

Ya know, this just might be the beginning of a whole new trend in ‘viral’ marketing. The implications are giving me the willies …

  7. NO1UNO Says:

So, surfer………..where do we find a copy to enjoy for ourselves???

  8. Reader's Write Says:

you dont rilly spec an answer to do you?

  9. Devil's Advocate Says:

    (@RW: It’s not that difficult.)

Personally, I’ve got no use for a “work print”, particularly one like this where the animation and CG effects haven’t been finished yet.
But, just to add to the number of people pissing off the MAFIAA, I downloaded it anyway.

Thanks to certain members of that poor, misunderstood, and devastated group, the MPAA, you can count on the leakage of the final product before the theater date, anyway. (That’ll be the one I watch after downloading it.)
    : )

  10. Reader's Write Says:

    I’ll wait for a finished copy…

  11. NO1UNO Says:

NOPE, didnt expect an answer…… if youre on here posting, you know where to get things

“The FBI are investigating the online leak of an almost finished copy of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a month before the film’s cinema release,”

Meanwhile, serial killers, terrorist conspiracies, and underground drug/child porn markets go completely unnoticed.

  14. Reader's Write Says:

first of all, i just watched it
    awesome
took me back to the days of the first x-men
second of all, it was really easy to get
i just searched it on the pirate bay and bam, 20000 seeders

  15. Devil's Advocate Says:

“i just searched it on the pirate bay and bam, 20000 seeders”

There’s definitely a shitload of seeders everywhere, but for those taking advantage, remember that half of the torrents posted are going to be fake and/or contain a virus. Virus planters always take advantage of such “hyped” situations.

“This has been a message from the Civil Defense Warning System”

-> that’s right, and that’s why tpb for example has the usergroups with the skulls. the green ones are the “VIP”’s. so if you have an upload from a guy with a green skull and preferable a backlog of many uploads before, you can be nearly absolute certain that what the description says it should be, it will be.

  18. Reader's Write Says:

Personally, I don’t really think this leak is going to impact the overall revenues for this movie. I’ve already downloaded, and watched, x-men origins, and as good as the workprint was…. Im still going to pay for a ticket opening night. Mainly because I want to see the polished, finished version… So.. for me at least, the fact that this leaked online isnt going to stop me from seeing it in a theater. I enjoyed it this morning when I watched it, and Im sure next month when it comes out officially… I’ll enjoy it just as much.

  19. Hippie Says:

” Personally, I don’t really think this leak is going to impact the overall revenues for this movie. ”

    It won’t.
    It never does.
Everyone including the industry reps know it.

  20. Eric Says:

I quote someone named Batmanjack who posted on one of the workprint torrents:

“(H)ahahaha – the movie industry is so mad right now… (b)ut they can rest assured that I’ll be downloading the actual screener when that gets released, as well”

  21. Kim Says:

HELP!!! I have spent the last few days trying to find X-men Origins but the ones that I have found have problems with one thing or another. I am going out on a limb here to say that I am a virgin when it comes to downloading “these” movies. Can someone PLEASE help me with not only directions concerning where to find it but also how/what to do once I do find it? I really, really want to see this movie as is obvious since I seem to be groveling. I would appreciate any help that you would be able/willing to give me so that I can see the movie that everyone is raving about.
