Eliot van Buskirk a recession casualty
p2pnet news view | Off Topic:- We’re sorry to report Wired writer Eliot Van Buskirk of ListeningPost fame is among casualties of the George W. Bush recession.
Wired has laid off three out of 25 full-time staffers, or 12% of its workforce, says a Twitter post from Evan Hansen, the Web site’s editor in chief, according to CNet News.
“Among those who lost their jobs was Eliot van Buskirk, a much respected digital music reporter who authored the blog ListeningPost for the Web site for over three years,” says the story, adding:
“In November, Wired.com laid off 10 percent of its staff.
“Wired magazine was once a must-read for the cybergroovy but has since had to contend, like all print publishers, with more competition from online sources of technology stories.”
Eliot is also the author of Burning Down the House: Ripping, Recording, Remixing, and More!, and iPod and iTunes QuickSteps.
He was one of the few mainstream writers who genuinely cared about the plight of Big 4 record label victims.
He’ll be missed.
Good luck, Eliot.

Man, that sucks. I always likes his coverage, he always honed in on a lot of angles everybody else missed.
Good luck Eliot!

Hopefully this is a case of down but not out?
I mean, he might not be with Wired any more, but he’s still alive, and probably still has internet access. Maybe he’ll remain passionate about the subject enough to keep writing a blog in his spare time?
I second bh. Good luck Eliot!
