Bourne claws Catwoman
p2pnet.net News:- If you doubt the power of the entertainment industry’s control over the media in the US, consider this:
Yesterday on Google’s front page news site were headlines to the effect, Catwoman claws Bourne, referring to a couple of Hollywood’s latest.
And again today, ‘Bourne Supremacy’ Steamrolls Over ‘Catwoman,’ ‘I, Robot’ At Box Office.
Does anyone really care – apart from the Hollywood moguls who rake it in and report record profits while the industry says it’s being ravaged by file sharing.
As an entertainment item, maybe. But front-page headlines?

It’s too bad that the news and entertainment industries are in bed together. The media conglomerates like Disney, Viacom , Fox and AOL Time Warner all own news outlets, and unfortunately most people get their news from TV, so we can’t just turn the page when bombarded with the usual fluff.
Just to list one example, on CBS news, they have run a lot of stories about their own CBS television shows (’Survivor’ certainly comes to mind) have profiled on 6o minutes books by their subsidiary Simon & Schuster, as well stories about Paramount movies.
Since they can get away with it, why not promote their own products and call it “news”? Ingenious, huh?

“…the power of the entertainment industry’s control over the media in the US…”
They are one and the same. The entertainment industry IS the media. Keep in mind, apart from what you can experience directly, the media is your world. What’s going on in Iraq? What they show & tell you. You gonna fly there and find out different? The “media” is King.
