New ‘Keep Fa$ebook honest’ user group

p2pnet news view Advertising| P2P:- Fa$ebook users have been forced to launch a yet another action group to make the owners of the advertising site do the right thing.

But what else is new?

This time, “Did you know Facebook published this statement on April 3?” – asks Robert Chapin.

THE 30-DAY COMMENT PERIOD FOR SUBMITTING FEEDBACK ON FACEBOOK’S PROPOSED GOVERNANCE DOCUMENTS HAS ENDED.

“Did you have any idea they had accepted 3000 comments and now they’re going to ask the members to vote based on that?” – he asks in an email.

“All I had heard was that they were going to do something proactive.  I thought it was still in the works and here I find out that the opportunity has come and gone!”

Says the Facebook blog, like butter wouldn’t melt in its mouth »»»

The 30-day comment period for submitting feedback on Facebook’s proposed governance documents has ended, but the opportunities to help shape the policies that will govern Facebook have only begun. Since announcing the new governance structure in February, we received more than 3,000 comments from the over 10,000 members who joined each of the groups dedicated to discussion about the proposed Facebook Principles and the Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (SRR).

3,000 of 200,000,000 members

“Facebook wouldn`t exist without its users,” said Fa$ebooker Bree in a comment post after Mark Zuckerberg and his pals tried, and failed, to claim ownership of user data by sneaking modified Terms of Service past the people who keep it in business.

“It figured it owned user data before, during and after.

Wrong, said the people who do own them.

In pure, unadulterated PR-babble, “Last week, we returned to our previous Terms of Use as we worked on a new set of governing documents that would more clearly explain the relationship between Facebook and its users,” said chief advertising exec Zuckerman, failing to point out he had zero choice in the matter, noted p2pnet at the time.

“I`ve been excited to see how much people care about Facebook and how willing they are to contribute to the process of governing the site,” he said, trying to gloss over the PR disaster.

“Excited?” we went on. “Angered, would be more like it. And of course, the absolute last thing he wants is for anyone other than him and his team to have any say whatsoever in how Facebook is operated, what is does, or how it does it.”

Make Zuckerberg toe your line

Now, “Facebook has opened and shut the door for feedback about the new Facebook rules,” says the new action site, adding »»»

If you didn’t know that, you are not alone. I learned about this today while reading about an iTunes deal on the PC World website.

Seriously, this is not right.

Please join in demanding this “comment period” be reopened.

Please join in demanding this “comment period” be publicised instead of quietly hidden where only 3,000 of the 200,000,000 members were able to participate.

Please join this group to show your support!

Interesting comments so far. I think this illustrates how unrealistic an April “election” is.

  6. Devil's Advocate Says:

I’ve got another idea for a Facebook “group”…
How about “Facebook Group against duplication of existing Facebook group missions”!??

I mean, what’s with all the duplicate groups that basically share the same “concerns”?
Wouldn’t it be in their best interests to actually operate as one group?!

Another reason I can’t be bothered with FB.
