Who owns Sharman Networks?
p2pnet.net News:- Nikki Hemming seems to be a key player. But on whose behalf is she playing?
That’s what Judge Murray Wilcox wants to know, as does Big Music.
Under discussions is Sharman Networks, owner of the ill-fated p2p file sharing service Kazaa. Sharman is battling copyright infringement allegations in Australia.
"Lawyers for Universal Music Australia called on Sharman in Australian federal court to reveal the anonymous figure controlling the corporation in its request for evidential discovery," says a CNET News story here, going on that a request to Sharman from Universal’s lawyers calls for details of the "ownership and control structure of the corporate respondents, the financial and managerial aspects of the various relationships, and the historical background to these arrangements".
However, Sharman’s counsel objected saying the request is irrelevant to the case, says CNET, adding that Worldwide Nominees is named as the sole director of Sharman Networks (of Port Vila) and although the shareholders "remain publicly anonymous," the director was named as a Geoffrey R. Gee.
