Netscape update confirmed
p2pnet.net News:- "Written off for dead about a year ago, the forefather of Web browsers, Netscape Navigator, is being resuscitated in the coming months with an updated version," said an eWeek story last May, going on, "But whether it will mark a revival of the browser, or simply some life support, remains to be seen."
It’d be the first update, "since AOL spun off its Mozilla open-source development group last July, weeks after releasing its last Netscape Navigator, Version 7.1," says the report, which also points out that a new Netscape would kill speculation that AOL would end Netscape browser releases.
"Along with spinning off Mozilla last year, Netscape also had laid off most of its developers and programmers, former Netscape employees said," according to eWeek.
However, 7.2 CD ships August 3, says Netscape here. "Purchase Netscape software and guides to install the full Netscape suite on your computer or across your entire enterprise. Our guidebook offers step-by-step instructions on how to use your software."
Right.

Heck, I didn’t know Netscape and Mozilla had anything to do with A(s)OL. This calls for further thought.
