Eloping couple murdered

p2pnet news view Off Topic | Crime:- We live in two worlds. In one, women are ordinary citizens like everyone else. But in the other horrifying and evil place, men rule under religious law, and women are treated like animals.

A 19-year-old girl and her fiance, 21, were murdered in southern Afghanistan for trying to elope in the extremist-controlled southwestern province of Nimroz.

They were shot down in cold blood by Taliban extremists in front of a crowd in the remote district of Khash Rod, says ANI.

“The incident once again brings to light the brutalities Afghan women are being subjected to in the country,”" it says.

“It is not only the extremists who treat women in the country as mere objects, but the government too seems to be backing the notion, as was evident from President Hamid Karzai’s controversial ‘rape law’.

“The law, brought by President Karzai allowed Shiite men to demand sex from their wives every four days and keep them indoors indefinitely.”

An “unmarried young boy and an unmarried girl who loved each other” eloped because their families wouldn’t approve the marriage, Agence France-Presse has local governor Ghulam Dastageer Azad saying, calling the murders an “insult to Islam”.

The pair were discovered by Taliban militants and returned to their village in Khash Rod district where the extremists are active, says the story, adding:

“Three Taliban mullahs brought them to the local mosque and they passed a fatwa (religious decree) that they must be killed.

“They were shot and killed in front of the mosque in public,” the governor said.

  3. www.eZee.se Says:

Sad, would have rather read Dan Glickman and his cronies were handed a fatwa and were shot outside of (insert-place-here).

Oh well, its a religion of peace

    …… right?

  4. all in the name of god Says:

    So is any religion…. Right?

The only one that would not harm people is Scientology…. right?

    :P

  5. www.eZee.se Says:

Other religions dont have the slogan “religion of peace”.

Personally, I think only Buddhism truly can have the slogan “religion of peace”, true Buddhism – not the one dictated by the Chinese govt.

  6. Reader's Write Says:

Can’t the rest of the world just build a wall around the entire middle east region? Before sealing it up, anyone who wants to leave can do so and anyone who wants to enter can do so. After that, nobody is allowed in or out. The middle east wants the rest of the world to leave them alone, so being isolated would be exactly what they want.

Then, a decade from now we could tear down the wall and build new cities on the lifeless ruins, because that’s all that would left.

  7. Mike Ox-Small Says:

We should have killed all the Taliban in 2001 instead of letting them flee to Pakistan. Now, back to P2P…
