I am from Montreal, and Quebec’s laws are pretty fucked up. They are imposing some rules and fees. And I understand Steve Jobs why he don’t wanna apply to these rules.

I don’t know why our laws are like that, but they do suck. I speak normally french, and I know that if Apple had to do this contest, he would have to do the campaign in the french language.

At one side, you have the government that want to protect the french language, and at the other side, you have the Quebec people that want to have all the liberty and all the opportunity that the rest of the Canada have.

I’ts pretty contradicting. But I understand WHY we have to deal with it.

Well, well, well. This as nothing to do with Steve Jobs, Apple, Google, Cisco, french, english, spanish, arabic… Itâs about the law applied by the RÃ©gie des alcools des courses et des jeux (the organisation responsible to apply the rules in the province of Quebec regarding alcool, races et gaming).

Oh come on, what kind of sensationalistic title is that. Steve Jobs is at home dying with his family, and Apple chose not to include Quebec because our lovely provincial government charges extortionistic fees to run a contest here. No one has singled out “French Canadians” either – all Quebec residents are barred whether we’re of French origin or not.

Quebec law for contests of any kind is brutal. Lotteries are not good in Quebec, they have their own while the rest of Canada has others. The only thing I know Quebec has for any contest as well as Canada is the Lotto 6/49.

Quebec has different laws regarding contests and as such they make it very difficult for a company to run a contest in Quebec. SKill-based contests have it a little easier, but anything chance based will be abused to hell. For example 10% of winnings have to go to the Provincial Government.
