Hollywood kills 321 Studios
p2pnet.net News:- The RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) and MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) are probably patting themselves on the back for a good job well done.
Making a mockery of the principle of Fair Use, the two entertainment industry owned enforcement units have driven a company marketing software that allowed people to make back-ups of the CDs and DVDs they’d bought and paid for, out of business.
321 Studios has been battling Big Music and the major studios for the right to continue to sell its DVDXCOPY, among other products, but on what used to be its web page, you find:
“Thank you for visiting 321 Studios. 321 Studios regrets to inform you that it has ceased business operations including, but not limited to, the sale, support and promotion of our products.
“Despite 321 Studios’ best efforts to remain in business, injunctions entered against 321 Studios by three US Federal courts earlier this year has resulted in 321 Studios no longer being able to continue operating the business.”

321 Studios was a pioneer in uncharted territory, and like many early pioneers in various environments, was slain by hostile forces. But the path they opened has now turned into a highway. I was in a computer store recently and I noticed quite a proliferation of DVD copying software from various unknown developers. While most techies scoffed at the thought of using an application with the limitions of X-Copy, it did at least bring DVD copying to the unwashed masses who knew nothing about the excellent free downloads such as DVD Shrink or DVD Decrypter.

This should be expected – we don’t live in a world where freedom and choice is respected… we live in a world where business groups pay for the election campaigns of people they know will help them out when elected. Western “democracies” are a farce – a one dollar note/coin has more influence/voting power than I do.
Big business does not respect consumers – they only see the consumer market as a “feeding ground”. And they will put pressure on their friends in government to make sure consumers don’t have any choice but to give up their money.
I believe that business should exist to serve consumers, and if they do a good job of that then they deserve to receive profit. If however big business only exists to serve itself (and pressures governments to maintain the status quo just to preserve big businesses’ power base) then we should do everything in our power to stop it.

I don’t feel sorry at all about 321 studios.
Do you want to know why?
They were a bunch of ripoffs.
It was a freeware program with a quide.
The ripper was essentially the same as dvd decyrpter and dvd shrink you can get for free from the internet.
the burning engine was worse than clone dvd or dvd fab at half the price.
These programs work FLAWLESSLY.
It’s too bad i have to go overseas for a copying program.
I mean, you have to be pretty fucking stupid if you could not figure out how to use dvd decyrpter or dvd shrink.
The program was plagued by video errors and it crashed a lot.
Lord knows how many expensive dvd blanks i ruined using this program.
I bought everything they ever made and now that they are out of business,i have 300 hundred dollars worth of fucking worthless junk that can’t be activated on the internet anymore.
It taught me a very valuable lesson.
Never buy a computer program that the only way you can activate it is over the internet.
robert moore was a fool.
You can’t buck the mpaa and the congress of the united states.
you can’t blame the mpaa for doing their homework.
After all,it is their intellectual property and until the law is changed movie copying is illegal .
There is no such thing as fairuse rights.
Ii don’t feel sorry for those rat bastards in the movie industry either.
I have made PLENTY of cd roms of all of my favorite movie copying programs just in case the induce act passes.
No,robert moore put HIMSELF out of business.
In many ways he was just as much as a fucking con artist as the entertainment industry.
The man was a fucking ripoff artist and i could not care less.
someday movie copying programs and rippers wil be as common as cd rippers are today and be priced the same as clone dvd or dvd fab.
It’s just too bad robert moore and 321 studios were at the wrong place at the wrong time.
THAT’S LIFE.
