if the parents taught the kid right from wrong and etc, i don't really see the point of making a big deal out of this "shake a baby" app. as long as they know, then nothin's wrong with it. it's just computerized.

"If this were a real baby being shaken, then by all means get up in arms. Last I checked, we’re talking about a piece of hardware..."

I think you're missing the point.

Everyone is not born with a fully-developed mind.
Society needs to do absolutely EVERYTHING it can to discourage any image of "acceptance" with such things that may engrain themselves in the younger minds. Example: If kids grow up thinking, even "subconsciously", it's an option to shake a baby, they may very well end up doing it.

Indeed, when we don't take such things seriously, older minds have shown they can be subconsciously degraded the same way.

"I think we’re all a little more mature now"

You place too much faith in society at large.

This is news? With everything happening today in the way the world this weak social commentary is the best we can do? If this were a real baby being shaken, then by all means get up in arms. Last I checked, we're talking about a piece of hardware that fits in your pocket. What boy didn't grow up decapitating their sisters barbies or play first person shooters, I think we're all a little more mature now that we can stop blaming video games for the 'life imitating art' argument.
