Pirate Google .torrent searches

p2pnet news view Freedom | P2P:- Here’s the text on The Pirate Google »»»

Bit Torrent Search

Please Note: This site is not affiliated with Google, it simply makes use of Google Custom Search to restrict your searches to Torrent files.

You can do this with any regular Google search by appending your query with filetype:torrent. This technique can be used for any type of file supported by Google.

The intention of this site is to demonstrate the double standard that was exemplified in the recent Pirate Bay Trial.

Sites such as Google offer much the same functionality as The Pirate Bay and other Bit Torrent sites but are not targeted by media conglomerates such as the IFPI as they have the political and legal clout to defend themselves unlike these small independent sites.

This site is created in support of an open, neutral internet accessible and equitable to all regardless of political or financial standing.

That says it all.

Whoever made this site gets my two-thumbs up.

Maybe the Kartels will wish to sue google for millions as well? heh

  2. Reader's Write Says:

They won’t sue Google, they will threaten Google into submission to remove that site.

But I am sure there will be a partay to create more sites like that in response.

  3. www.eZee.se Says:

I think thats a wonderful idea!

And everyone who has a site should have a kind of search box like that with the identical search functionality as a protest (i dont see any ads on that site so i’m pretty sure we wont be depriving that person of any monetary gain).

Shouldnt be too hard to write that functionality for non profit either, contact me if you have a website and want something like that (gotto be able to run php though) as I’m sure i can write some quick code for you… free, and non copyrighted :D

Considering that Google caved in to china (which, while I understand it for business purposes, still shows what their real goals are), censor some of the most obscene content (and, again, while I would probably enable that setting myself, it shouldn’t be forced on anyone), and has already been involved in potential privacy invasions (viacom+google-owned youtube and the whole data handover)…. what makes anyone think that Google wouldn’t do exactly the same thing with torrent files?

Here’s the scenario. RIAA goes to Google like Viacom did. They say “Torrent files are stealing our data. Stop returning them as search results.” Google initially says “No way!” to get users to think they’re the good guys. Then the RIAA strikes a deal with them where searches for torrents return RIAA sites at the top of the list, and the IP addresses of anyone who clicks on a torrent file is sent to the RIAA for “record-keeping purposes”.

I am glad that this is out there to expose the hypocrisy. But I don’t think there really is much hypocrisy in this case. Google is out to make a profit. They’ll cave when it turns out that fighting for the rights of the users is harder than submitting to the whims of the industry.

    In the mean time: Party^H^H^H^Hirate!

This site isn’t working for me. I’m getting a “403 Forbidden” page when I try to do a search on it.

  8. Jon Says:

We going to a new server. Should be ok now, hopefully.

    Cheers!

  9. Reader's Write Says:

Sorry, didn’t realize the long URL would screw up the page formatting. Please feel free to edit or delete it.

  10. Hippie Says:

” This site isn’t working for me. I’m getting a “403 Forbidden” page when I try to do a search on it. ”

    Same.
Who wants to bet Google did something to prevent it from
    working in this manner ?

  11. RadialSkid Says:

    So simple, yet so brilliant.
