Miley Cyrus upsets 1,000,000 mums

p2pnet news view TV | Movies:- One millions mums are angry at teenie billionairess Miley Cyrus for Twittering that she’s OK with gay marriage.

Actually, that should be One millions mums is angry, because it’s the name of an American Family Association site, which declares »»»

Her [Miley's] comments were in response to a question posed to Miss California Carrie Prejean in the April 19 Miss USA Pageant. Homosexual celeblogger Perez Hilton was the pageant judge who asked Prejean her opinion of same-sex marriage, to which she responded that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Outraged by her response, Hilton began blasting the beauty queen and asked for celebrities to share their thoughts on gay marriage.

Miley Cyrus responded to Hilton through her Twitter.com account with the following comments:

“Everyone deserves to love and be loved and most importantly smile.”
* “Jesus loves you and your partner and wants you to know how much he cares! That’s like a daddy not loving his lil boy cuz he’s gay and that is wrong and very sad!
* “Like I said everyone deserves to be happy.”
* “God’s greatest commandment is to love. And judging is not loving.”
* “I am a Christian and I love you – gay or not – because you are no different than anyone else! We are all God’s children.”

Such statements will send the wrong message to our children who are influenced by this teenage megastar. Parents need to realize that Cyrus is not the positive role model she was once thought to be.

Indeed to goodness!

So, “send Miley Cyrus a letter stating that you do not approve of her comments,” suggests One Million Mums, adding:

“Clearly she is confused and does not understand the Bible.”

No need to stay tuned. ;)

“Clearly she is confused and does not understand the Bible.”

Shouldn’t that be, clear she is confused and does not understand our closed minded interpretation of the bible?

  2. PRTV Says:

    Any everybody all together now…1,2,3

    Miley who?

(just wanted to get it over with;-)

  3. Reader's Write Says:

Good on her. I hope she stands her ground. Still can’t stand her though.

  4. Reader's Write Says:

While “Christians” are making gay marriage their number one priority; millions of children worldwide are dying of starvation and disease, thousand of teenage girls are having sex and becoming pregant, millions of U.S. children have no health insurance, and 50% of those sacred straight marriages are ending in divorce due to adultery. When will these evangelicals realize that they are spitting on Christ’s teachings everyday and missing the point of the scriptures? “Christians” should be working to protect marriage against themselves, they’re the ones who are destroying the “scared institution” while forgetting their true christian duties.

  5. Reader's Write Says:

You know, I honestly don’t know who’s the bigger asshole here: these christian fundamentalist organizations, or hypocritical, pro-gay fundamentalists like Perez Hilton who wants everybody to accept the queer community, but can’t seem to tolerate anyone with a dissenting opinion on the matter. How can you claim to be in favour of cultural diversity when you yourself are biased to one side of the coin? Live and let live, I say.

I am neither for nor against gay marriage. I’ve never felt too strongly about the matter one way or the other, and will be perfectly content no matter what decision the court chooses. However, we, as citizens, have a duty not to start clawing at each other’s throats over a trivial disagreement. If Perez Hilton is serious about supporting gay marriage, then he should go the extra mile and lead the way towards changing the law. But if all he’s going to do is attack anyone he doesn’t agree with, he’s no better than the christian fundamentalists.

  6. Reader's Write Says:

I personally don’t care for Miley’s music, but sorry 1,000,000 mums have no right to start a fight with Miley on this.
Miley has the right to have her own opinion. The Mums have a right to theirs. But starting a big fuss over something so stupid as a twitter comment……. My opinion on Gay Marriage is “WHO CARES”. Its not a debate with me, go ahead if you wish don’t if you wish.

  7. RadialSkid Says:

I’m sorry, but where exactly in her comments did she claim that she’s for gay marriage? Saying “I love everyone and we’re all God’s children” is not the same as “I support gay marriage.”

  8. Jack from Nashville Says:

Unless you joyfully embrace gay marriage you are a hateful homophobe, and don’t deserve to live! Welcome to the Gay Nazi State.

  9. Dreddsnik Says:

This is the second time she has said something reasonable.
I am starting to actually LIKE her.
    Someone shoot me.

  10. Reader's Write Says:

Who knew such sensible words could emerge from miley cyrus? That is if you can ignore the intermingled religious nonsense. I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment and the anti-gay zealots can shove their draconian doctrine where the sun doesn’t shine.

  11. Dude from Finland Says:

Not quite…. the actions on both parts have gone to extremes I will give you that but that’s normal in any subject matter that many people have an opinion about. I find it funny that the church loves everybody and wants equality for everyone that THEY accept. Time to burn the bibles and kill all the religions of the world since life around them tend to focus on small subject matters. Like someone said there is hunger and poverty and whatnot in the world and this is the subject that gets media time. Abolish the belief systems and we can start focusing on some real issues.

  12. Judus Says:

She believes in Jesus, i thought she was smarter than that.
the reason we are equal is because as life we all share the same needs, she could go vegetarian and make a better point.

  13. Reader's Write Says:

    @Dreddsnik

    BANG BANG your dead motherfucker!

  14. voxleo Says:

    * “God’s greatest commandment is to love. And judging is not loving.”

Amen to dat! Bible nonsense aside, this is most relevant argument to anybody thumping it whilst touting the sanctity of marriage and blah blah blah. It fights fear of hellFIRE with fear of hellFIRE!

@Dreddsnik – yeah, color me shocked also. Its become my expectation for the new/young celeb generation to be a little shallow, so this is definitely a welcome change to see something that looks like it might actually have been contemplated before being voiced. I guess the odds say it has to happen sometime… “That’s hot!”

and who is this person anyway?

  15. hellokitty Says:

you guys should stop talking about her because she is the nicest person and all of you guys r jealous of her. she can say whatever she wants. who cares if people r gay. by the way it’s her opinion. if you guys hate her so much then why do u guys read her news or stuff.
its not funny.the only reason why u guys hate her it’s because u guys saw her nude photo(with blanket sheet).its not just her that takes photo of themselves.vanessa hudgens is way sluttier than miley cyrus or any of disney channel stars.

  16. mimi Says:

seriously why do people keep being so harsh to this girl i think there a better and more important things in the world to be worrying about, yh she may be a global star but she still has the right to her believes and opinions like everyone else in the world. gay or not we are the same weather u love a man or a woman its still love and everyone deserves the right to love, dont they? being gay is not a crime , i believe the world needs to accept people for who they are and not judge we all have are flaws are just arent publicly viewed. Share our similarities, celebrate our differences.

  17. Jamie Says:

Not really a fan of Miley Cyrus, but I have some respect for her. Everyone should be able to marry. Whether they’re gay or not. I find the fact that some (and when I say some, I mean alot) straight people who do not want gays to get married, or find the idea of their child turning gay so “repulsive”, idiotic. I mean, who the heck cares. If two people love eachother that much, why can’t they get married? Who are YOU to tell someone they can’t get married cause they’re gay, but YOU can because you aren’t gay. And for those moms who are mad that Miley supports gay marriages…do you hear yourself? You’re telling your kids that it’s bad to be gay. That being gay is wrong, you shouldn’t be friends with gay people for no damn reason. And banning gay marriages won’t guarentee that your kid will stay straight for the rest of their life. They’re gonna grow up, thinking that they can’t be gay because if they do, they’ll know that they’re parents won’t love them anymore and stop supporting them like a parent should. Is that how you want your kid to grow up? Making them think that gays are these…weirdos who don’t “belong”. You’re not only taking freedom away from people who are just like you, but are setting an even worser example than Miss. Miley Cyrus ever could.

I have no problems with Christians, but the fact that there are so many Christians that are so against gays and gay marriages, makes any respect I have for them, disappear. It’s so sad. I heard someone once say that God/Jesus loves everyone…but then, if “Jesus/God” really does love everyone, then I’m pretty sure, that “HE” would still love them, whether they’re gay or not.

I wish people would stop being so ignorant. Yeah, I’m ignorant too, but at least I’m not so ignorant, as to try and take away freedom from someone else. Think…try to be in their shoes. What if YOU were the one who was gay? Yeah, as “repulsive” or “disgusting” as the thought is, think. How would it feel? That you’re gay, but suddenly, all your so-called friends and “loving” family is against you now?

    I’m PRO-Gay and I’m proud of it!

  18. mimi Says:

i so agree with jamie and miley

  19. A Dubs Says:

I love Miley, I completely agree with her, she’s entitled to her own opinions, so everyone back off.

  20. Scar Says:

What the “F” Ever! I don’t like her, I’m NOT for gay marriages…Theres my opinion! I have the right to voice it like every1 else, Dammit

  21. Reader's Write Says:

@Jamie: “If ‘Jesus/God’ really does love everyone, then I’m pretty sure, that ‘HE’ would still love them, whether they’re gay or not.”

That made me think of The Simpsons:

Homer: “Hey, I got a question for you. Could Jesus microwave a burrito so hot that he himself could not eat it?”
Ned: “Well sir, of course, he could, but then again… wow, as melon-scratchers go that’s a honey-doodle.”

  22. Kessy Says:

I feel bad for both of the people. I mean, I know it’s kinda weird that some people are gay but, look! So many people are gays and lesbians and people don’t care! They accept it! Some people appreciate it!

And look, there is quite a few FAMOUS people who are gay.

    Ex: Perez Hilton and Ellen.

I also feel bad for the mothers. So many women will be single forever with all the people who are gay. Who’s gonna love and care for her and her child/children? On the other hand, I agree with Miley, Gay and straight people should be loved. Who has ever heard of equality? I haven’t seen any of that for a while. Especially from Scar. (2 Comments up.)

I’m not Christian but I do believe in God and Hell. (Pardon my French for any Christians reading.) I think Jamie is right.

@ Jamie: “If ‘Jesus/God’ really does love everyone, then I’m pretty sure, that ‘HE’ would still love them, whether they’re gay or not.”

You are totally right on that one. :D
