Shareaza: ripped off?
p2pnet.net News:- When Shareaza released Shareaza 2.0 under the GNU General Public License, its move to open source predicated the question - will some snake take advantage of Shareaza’s ‘openeness’.
Could be.
“You’ve seen the knock-offs of your favorite p2p apps. (KaZaA Gold, etc.) Some for sale, some just loaded up with spyware and adware!” - posts Ben on packet four here, going on: “Shareaza has recently, and unfortunately, fallen victim to this trend of scam”
He was talking about an outfit called Go Music.
“The program was published to C|Net on the third of August, and after a week it has received a generally good rating (134 votes at 73% approval),” says Ben. “The company behind it all, RockSoftDevelopment, has a very unprofessional website and interestingly enough, has its domain WHOIS information masked. Its domain servers are registered as NS1.DOWNLOADFILES.ORG and NS2, and www.downloadfiles.org is just a picture of a Israeli star. (star of David).
“Looks like someone overseas is tryin’ to make a few bucks off good ol’ Mike!”
And ironically, at the bottom of RockSoftDevelopment’s web page is:
“Copyright 2004 Go Music. All Rights Reserved.”
Wonder if RockSoft is anything to do with ES5?
Nahhhh
