Jay-Z AZ bash bombs
p2pnet news view Music:- “The lineup for the first concert at Arizona Stadium since 1977 is literally one of a kind,” says AZ Night Buzz.
“Billed as the Last Smash Platinum Bash, the April 29 concert will feature Jay-Z, Kelly Clarkson, Third Eye Blind and the Veronicas,” says the story, going on:
“You won’t see the lineup for this concert anywhere else, as it’s not part of any tour. Presented by the Associated Students of the University of Arizona, it’s a one-night-only show.”
Literally.
Because after the Associated Students of the University of Arizona (ASUA) shelled out $750,000 (Yes, three-quarters-of-a-million dollars) to Jay-Z to “co-headline” the event with Clarkson, the ASUA is now in the hole for $917,000, says AllHipHop.com.
The last Arizona Stadium show was Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 performance, “which drew 67,000 fans on a hot August day,” says AZ Night Buzz.
The Jay-Z/Clarkson effort wasn’t expected to rival that one in terms of attendance, says the story, because, “In order to preserve the football field, only 17,000 tickets will be sold. The stadium’s seating capacity for football games is now about 57,000.”
Says AllHipHop, “According to estimates, the student union gave away over 4000 tickets in hopes of securing valuable marketing deals with newspapers and radio stations.”
ASUA president Tommy Bruce blamed the failure on the recession, it saysm, adding:
“As a consequence, the UA Bookstore organization will also lower its contributions to the student group by $570,000 over the next 5 years.”
