Olympic streaker gets 5 months
p2pnet.net OT Olympic News:- A 31-year-old Canadian who, dressed in a blue tutu and white tights, soared off the three-metre board during an Olympics diving event, is appealing a five month jail sentence imposed by an Athens court.
Montreal’s Ron Bensimhon, aka Ron Simon, “walked out of a Greek courtroom today after paying a 2,000-euro ($3,225 Cdn) fine and sporting a bruise under his eye which, he said, came when he was roughed up by police during his arrest,” says a Canadian Press story here.
It quotes Bensimhon as saying, “I wanted to have fun but I never knew it would finish like this. I thought they’d laugh about it … They [the police] took me in a bathroom and beat me up.”
“After spending $1.9 billion on Games security, Greek organizers were left red-faced after Bensimhon’s stunt,” says CP.
Nor was this Bensimhon’s first international streak event.
He also ‘appeared’ at the World Figure Skating Championships in Germany last March, says Online Casino News here, going on: “According to Bensimhon’s lawyer, the tutu-clad streaker loved the rush he received from the skating event, and decided the Olympics would be the ultimate stage for him, providing even more notoriety, fame, and adrenaline-fueled excitement.”
On that occasion, he wore a yellow tutu with GoldenPalace.com on his front and back.
Not at all incidentally, Bensimhon also had GoldenPalace.com written on his front and back during his Olypmic appearance.
People who think the casino had anything to do with it have nasty, suspicious minds.
As a p2pnet reader writes here on the subject of Canada’s Space Race entry, “Goldenpalace.com stepped in an provided the missing $$, their logo now adorns most material associated with the launch now. plus Feeny has to take a laptop and ply an online wager of some kind on the first test flight, heh.”

I am Greek and I have to say he deserved to get beat. The Olympics have taken a huge loss because of the consistent fear tactics here in the u.s.a. People are not showing up in Athens because they listen to what the news tell them post 9/11, so called news channels like fox news. Go to outfoxed.com for more information on this. Security this and security that. The Greeks had to fork over 2 billion dollars just for security to protect morons who support war over reason. The same happened 2 weeks ago when a Mexican TV crew went to film the port where the hotel/ships will dock. They wanted to do an expose about lax security. But to there surprise the security was in full swing; in fact they got arrested for recording in a secure area. And also clamed to be beat. After 3 days in jail the Mexican counsel had to step in and get them out. Perhaps they should realize that in Europe Mexicans are not common and in Europe they canât tell the difference between a Mexican and an Arab, due to their dark skin tone. So the Greek authorities got in trouble for doing their job. So if the Mexicans got away with their news break about there bad security it would be shameful, but since they got caught and put in jail instead it is shameful. Conclusion dammed if you do dammed if you donât.

I am Canadian and I thought the streaker incident was hilarious. The Greeks spent a ton of money on security….my question is…..where were the security guards when this happened and how was this guy able to bypass everyone and jump in the pool?? It just goes to show that no matter how much money you spend on security, its never enough. If someone is determined enough to do something during the games, no amount of security will stop them.
Peace!!
