It’s tough at the top.

p2pnet news view | Cool:- Babu Sassi from southern India is getting to be a cult hero.

How come?

Because he reputedly lives at the top of the tallest building in the world, ‘reputedly’ because no one is sure if he does, or not —- or even if he really exists.

Emails about his room with a view are circulating the Net and my m8 John Chalmers down in Peterborough, Ontario, forwarded one to me.

Sassi  the crane operator on the 819-meter (2,687 ft) Burj Dubai.

It’s also where he lives because, say reports, it takes him too long to travel down to ground level each day.

But does he really live way up there?

Dubai Life says he does.

“In his absence, stories about his daily dalliance with death are discussed in revered terms by Dubai’s workers,” it says, adding:

“Some say he has been up there for over a year, others whisper that he’s paid 30,000Dh (£5,300) a month compared with the average wage of 800Dh (£140) per month. All agree he’s worth it.

“One chat room post said: ‘[Sassi] must be a real expert at cranes or totally insane’.”

The Dubai Life story dates back to late last year.

Is Sassi still up there?

Stay tuned.
