Why don't you wake up you asshole Apple zombie, go suck your idol Steve off. Show him that you can give him his last name for christmas. He'd like that.

I don't need to wake up, you're the zombie, not I. :-)

Yes there are much better players, yet you are willing to cash out 400 bucks for an overpriced player that comes with a shiny case and fancy buttons. And hell, they cant even play oggvorbis, the best sounding format on the market. After you just spent that much for a player and cant even play all the formats. How funny is that?
I guess you're the one to think 99 cents a song is a good deal. HAHAHAHHAA!
What a loser.

- WAKE UP -

Your "much better players" are vapourware, they only exist in your mind.

But then again your choice, each to their own.

Another uninformed asshole joins the discussion on a site run by other uninformed assholes. Use what ever device, platform you wish. Apple has it's own DRM, Microsoft has it's own DRM, Real has it's owm DRM. Which of these is more inclusive? Which of these has more liberal options for it's customers? Pick the service that you like & use it. No one is forcing you to buy an iPod. No one is forcing you to buy anything. Where is the monopoly? You want me to use Linux...make it fucking useable & have the same distros on both platforms. Otherwise shut the fuck up about free this & free that. If you don't own an iPod or have never used a MAC or Windows you opinion is worth shit on discussing either platform. I don't give a shit as to how many IT badges you shove in everyones faces...if you've never used it, you know nothing about it...shut the fuck up.

Seems simple to me - who forces you to buy anything from Apple? - No-one. Who forces you to buy an iPod? - No-one. Since you're so unhappy about the whole thing just steer well clear of the Apple products - I'm quite sure that Apple won't miss you. That way you'll have more time to whine about other things - something you do seem to be very good at. BTW, do you even have an iPod? I'm betting no, you just need an excuse to whine.

Anti-DRM? Excuse me..? You think Apple doesn't sympathize with content creators? It was Jobs, head of Pixar, who was one of the vocal proponents of DVD protection (hint hint.. his movies)...

For what it's worth.. Fairplay is all about a DRM that honest users never have to know about.. because it's very liberal. It's only when you start making multiple copies (7+) of identical CD's that the red flags start going off. Is that too much to ask?

Apple fans are WELL AWARE of what Microsoft has to offer...

it's all about OS X.

Use OS X and you'll understand.. Mac fans want more developers to wake up to OS X.. and know that misinformation from Windows guys is the biggest stumbling block... so they try to get the word out.

"If apple is anti-drm, then why do they go up in arms every time software pops up that allows users to exercise their fair use right?"

Well, if Apple implemented DRM because of the labels, like this reader suggested, then they obviously also do this to keep the labels happy. Next time use your brain dumbfuck!

Anyway, I don't think Apple are really anti-DRM, or atleast not anymore. I think they discovered that DRM can help them to generate more profit. Screw them.

Avoiding the the bigger debate about fair use. For a corporation to intepret a law (DMCA) and create a technology (FairPlay) to bypass fair use is underhanded. Since when did Apple decide what the terms of fair use should be under the DMCA? (This goes for Real as well)

Nowhere else is there an issue about what I can and can not do with the copyrighted material I purchase. If I put my CD into a player I'm not told my player refuses to play the CD beause it is not the right player or that I have exceeded the number of players to play it in. It's the beginning of a slippery slope, where "they and them" are using loopholes to undermine the rights people have. Purchasing from iTunes is like giving them an inch and them taking a mile so I don't do it, I don't purchase from Real either.

BTW because someone doesn't like the TOS at iTunes does that mean they give up their right to "bitching and moaning"? Under the iFreeExpression {(c) pending} TOS he has the right to "bitch and moan" at 5 sites while ONLY using Linux then they have to STFU. Sound fair to you? >:)

I fell a Godwin's Law coming on ...

Apple seems to have a knack of attracting chauvinist types overflowing with determined bluster and hubris. (or are these 'fans' all paid Apple employees?)

Agreed, Apple often has the cutting-edge products, but its corporate thinking and monopolistic tactics, besides high prices, make me wonder why people stubbornly defend everything Apple.

"I was under the impression that Apple actually wanted to find a way to sell the music without ANY DRM and they couldn't get any labels on board without it."

(Ok, and your proof for this "impression" is where?)

You can play bought iTunes tracks on as many as five computers...People forget that not everyone wants/needs portability...People who buy tunes on iTMS are informed of the limitation induced by the DRM, including the fact that you can only use an iPod as a portable music player to play the DRM tunes. You can also burn tracks on CD's that are the equivalent of what can be heard from playing those on iTunes or on the iPod.

(Who are you to say what people want and need? Are you the guy in charge of telling people what they want and need all of a sudden? And why just 5 computers, shouldnt I, who would purchase the right to use the media on any medium possible, be allowed to play them on as many computers as i want? These people need to go back into their 8th grade classes in september and learn more before spouting their idiocy on here.

“I was under the impression that Apple actually wanted to find a way to sell the music without ANY DRM and they couldn’t get any labels on board without it.”

(Ok, and your proof for this “impression” is where?)

You can play bought iTunes tracks on as many as five computers…People forget that not everyone wants/needs portability…People who buy tunes on iTMS are informed of the limitation induced by the DRM, including the fact that you can only use an iPod as a portable music player to play the DRM tunes. You can also burn tracks on CD’s that are the equivalent of what can be heard from playing those on iTunes or on the iPod.

(Who are you to say what people want and need? Are you the guy in charge of telling people what they want and need all of a sudden? And why just 5 computers, shouldnt I, who would purchase the right to use the media on any medium possible, be allowed to play them on as many computers as i want? Suppose i own a network of computers in my home, say, 15, would i have to buy that same track three times just to hear it once? Oh i can burn cds hm? That wouldnt appear to be much of a highlight at 99 cents each, but to you I suppose it would be…You know, a technology 15 years old being a fascinating and worth mentioning benefit..)

These people need to go back into their 8th grade classes in september and learn more before spouting their idiocy on here.
