Davenport Lyons only ever had one case go to court, for which a default judgement was made because the defendent never turned up – to date ACS have had zero cases go to court as far as I am aware.

My advice to anyone who gets one of these letters is to simply write a letter denying any knowledge of the alleged activity and leave it at that. Don’t make any excuses, don’t claim it may have been your kids friends or a open wifi, just clearly state their allegations are incorrect and that you have never downloaded whatever it is they are claiming you have downloaded. Keep a copy of the letter just for your own records.

It is highly unlikely you will ever hear from them again except for maybe a few more threats claiming they have evidence yada yada yada before they eventually move on to the next person they are trying to scam. These letters are fishing trips and nothing more.
