Project Natal: motion-sensing for Xbox
p2pnet news view | Games:- With news that Toshiba is using its laptop facial recognition system for cars in the background, Microsoft says it’s launched Project Natal motion-sensing for its Xbox 360.
No controller required, it says. All users need to be able to do is move their hands, shake their hips or speak.
By way of a 3D art demo, a Microsoft rep uses full body motion and his voice to do a painting.
It’s all part of Microsoft’s, “ongoing efforts to win over so-called ‘casual’ gamers, who have, until now, favoured the Nintendo Wii console, which uses motion sensing controllers,” says the Telegraph, going on:
Video game fans will also be able to update their Facebook status directly from their Xbox 360 console, and listen to streamed music on the device via Last.fm …”
Meanwhile, Sony is, “widely expected to launch their own motion-sensing control system for the PlayStation 3, as well as a new PSP handheld games console,” says the story.
