The art of “creative accounting” has always been standard practice in the record industry. More than a few artists have wondered how the royalties owed them somehow always seem to get eaten up by “expenses” – as typical in the industry’s food chain, the artists always get paid last (whatever crumbs are left).

Somewhat ironic, I’d say.
Cher’s dead first husband was instrumental in creating the current copyright trend, which was supposedly to “establish fairer deals for the artists”.

Hmm… first the Sonny Bono Act to ensure “heirs” get a free ride off of “I’ve Got You Babe” for up to 120yrs (author’s life + 70 yrs) or 95 yrs after publication. Now this? Sounds like these particular “artists” are in it for the money! No wonder they helped create such a ridiculous copy’right’ extension!

this is not surprising, the industry has been screwing artists for decades.
Cher should join the millions fighting the RIAA and start promoting her music the same way Trent has been.
Free for low quality and pay for high quality…
Seems to work for artists that make more from concerts than recordings.
