When Twitter rules the world …
p2pnet news view P2P | Advertising:- Significant numbers of people say they wouldn’t touch micro-blog site Twitter with a barge pole.
But IOHO, one of these days it’ll be as big and powerful — and as filthy rich – as Google.
Right now, it seems to be gathering steam and influence ready for the day when it’ll reach out — for the Holy Grail of Advertising, relying on viral promotion to get it permanently implanted in the on- and offline public eye.
And if you want proof of its rapidly growing power and, hence, influence, two apparently disparate events, the results of which will have major impacts in their respective countries, are currently highlighted on Twitter.
One is the heavily disputed ‘victory’ of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as president of Iran, and the other is continued persecution of a Minnesota mother by the multi-billion-dollar corporate music industry.
In Iran, Mir-Hossein Mousavi Khameneh, ex-prime minister of the Islamic republic of Iran and a candidate for the 2009 Iran presidential election, continues to use Twitter to keep people informed.
And in the US, , “I’ve arrived at courtroom 15E,” tweets Marc W. Bourgeois.
“No cell phones or cameras are allowed inside. Updates as time permits. #riaa”
Earlier, “I will be covering Capitol Records v. Thomas-Rasset trial for Recording Industry vs The People,” he says, and on Ray’s site »»»
I’m Marc W. Bourgeois, and I will be providing on-site coverage of the Capitol Records v. Thomas-Rasset trial from Minneapolis, MN. I’m an IT professional living in Madison, WI who for the past several years has had a keen interest in peer-to-peer related copyright enforcement, specifically with the recording industry litigation campaign.
I currently work for a Madison based online retailer managing system and network infrastructure. I’ve previously worked for the University of Wisconsin, Division of University Housing, where a portion of my job responsibilities included the processing of copyright related cease-and-desist (DMCA) notifications and the technical aspects relating to the recording industry pre-litigation campaign targeting colleges and universities.
I attended the previous trial in Duluth, MN and am looking forward to providing readers a first hand point-of-view for this trial and how it compares to the previous trial in October of 2007.
I will also be providing shorter updates throughout the trial via twitter at: http://twitter.com/mwbourgeois
Thank you and I look forward to providing readers an important first-hand perspective next week.
Definitely stay tuned.
