thats exactly the issue here Robert, the MAFIAA refuse to accept that digital copies are infinite good worth about as much as a can of air. they think that each time they roll out a new format (8-track, vinyl, cassette, CD, DVD, BluRay) that the entire population of the planet should go back out and buy another copy of something they already own. I think it was Henri that posted once that he should be able to will the content of his digital archive to his family, because digital copies will last forever (more or less), he shouldnt have to have his siblings purchase copies he already bought.

this is why the MAFIAA loves DRM, because they can break your digital copy, and then you need another one, for more money.

now THATS criminal…

Have you checked out Stephen Colbert’s thoughts on this? He once said he has a warehouse full of CD’s, a new CD purchased for each time he wished to listen to a song, even ones he already owned.

His wording was more eloquent but you get the humour.

That’s what, ideally, the labels would want.

so, if you buy DRM music, expect :

1) you paid for nothing.
2) you dont own what you pay for.
3) RIAA can erase your playlist at whim.
4) you can always buy ANOTHER ‘iteration’ DRM copy for more money (refer to 1.).
