Did Jackson live up to McCartney promise?
p2pnet news view Music:- Pop icon Michael Jackson, who died yesterday, was planning to leave the Beatles’ back catalogue to Beatle Paul McCarney, Canada’s spinner reported in January.
McCartney, “has long felt betrayed by Jackson, now 50, on principle,” says the story, quoting him as stating:
“You know what doesn’t feel very good, is going on tour and paying to sing all my songs. Every time I sing ‘Hey Jude,’ I’ve got to pay someone.”
Previously, Jackson and McCartney, “collaborated on Jackson’s 1982 ‘Thriller’ extract ‘The Girl is Mine,’ and McCartney’s 1983 single ‘Say, Say, Say’ from ‘Pipes of Peace’,” it says.
Meanwhile, “Fans around the world — including the thousands who descended on UCLA Medical Centre after news of his death emerged — anxiously awaited details of what caused Jackson’s death”, says CTV, adding:
“An autopsy is to be conducted today. Results are expected before the day is out but at this point all anybody has said is cardiac arrest.”
In the UK, foreign secretary David Miliband is hotly denying he left a tribute to Jackson on Twitter.
Reported by “some media organisations,” the message supposedly said, “Never has one soared so high and yet dived so low. RIP Michael.”
But, the FO has, “put out a message on its own Twitter page to urge people to disregard the spoof message,” says the BBC, adding:
“The Foreign and Commonwealth Office tweet says: ‘David Miliband does NOT have a Twitter account’.”
In death, Mikey will generate as much controversy as he did in life, and it’s only just beginning …

Not to Godwin this news item, but I can think of someone who soared almost as high and dived much, much lower. He wasn’t much of an artist either.
