German software pirates jailed
p2pnet.net News:- A member of a German software counterfeiting ring has been jailed for three years without parole for selling fake Microsoft software, and his 58-year-old father received a 16-month jail sentence and was also ordered to perform 100 hours of community service.
However, the man’s mother apparently wasn’t convicted, "because of health reasons, sources said," continues an IDG News Service.
Dieter Rimmele, "had previously been arrested in 1999 for software manipulation and was sentenced to a year in jail," it states. "The three-year sentence he received on Monday comes on top of the 10 months he has already served in jail since being arrested late last year."
Two more alleged members of the ring are currently on trial, IDG quotes ’sources’ as saying.
