Berman leaves IFPI
p2pnet.net News:- Jay Berman is out. John Kennedy is in.
That’s Berman of the IFPI and Kennedy of UMG.
The IFPI (International Federation of Phonographic Industries) is Big Music’s main enforcement agency outside of the US and UMG is one of the members of the Big Four record lable cartel.
Berman, formerly the boss of the cartel’s RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), has been fronting for the IFPI for the past six years.
Kennedy, who’ll join the IFPI on October 1, three months before Berman’s departure in December, made a traditional "challenging times for the music industry" statement when his appointment was announced.

The only “challenge” is to figure out a new business model where the customers can still remain customers and not consumers. But no, they shall fight to gain control of their consumers.

The music industry could try to use their money to make better products,
maybe a better CD offering with extras at reduced cost.
But they prefer using their vast wealth to throw away money on worthless protection schemes
that can be bypassed by holding “shift”.
Thus justifying to themselves their grossly overpriced soulless “product”.
Maybe they’ll realise at some point
that no matter how clever their “protection schemes” are they will be defeated,
either because it will be too aggravating to be bought by most customers
or because it will be circumvented.
Not to mention that racketeering your customers is not a great way to endear them to you.
But you can make lots of money on it.
However, since the RIAA is a non-profit organisation,
they have to recycle the money to do something else.
Can you guess? File more lawsuits! Ad nauseum.
Good thing for them they can rely on their bough-for politicians to push laws for them.
After all, what can’t you do if you’re rich and stupid?
