Sarah Palin says ‘I quit!’

p2pnet news view | P2PPolitics:- “Let me go back to a comfortable analogy for me – sports… basketball. I use it because you’re naïve if you don’t see the national full-court press picking away right now: A good point guard drives through a full court press, protecting the ball, keeping her eye on the basket… and she knows exactly when to pass the ball so that the team can WIN. And I’m doing that – keeping our eye on the ball that represents sound priorities – smaller government, energy independence, national security, freedom! And I know when it’s time to pass the ball – for victory.”

Thus spaketh one-time hopeful, but not entirely successful, vice-president of America candidate Sarah Palin on her decision to pack it in as governor of Alaska.

Does that means she’ll go for The Job in 2012?

In her executive column on the Alaska state web page, “I do not want to disappoint anyone with my decision,” she says — “all I can ask is that you TRUST me with this decision – but it’s no more ‘politics as usual’. ”

But she also says, portentously or ominously, depending on your point of view,”I am taking my fight for what’s right – for Alaska – in a new direction”.

She goes on »»»

Some Alaskans don’t mind wasting public dollars and state time. I do. I cannot stand here as your Governor and allow millions upon millions of our dollars go to waste just so I can hold the title of Governor. And my children won’t allow it either. ? Some will question the timing. ? Let’s just say, this decision has been in the works for awhile…

In fact, this decision comes after much consideration, and finally polling the most important people in my life – my children (where the count was unanimous… well, in response to asking: “Want me to make a positive difference and fight for ALL our children’s future from OUTSIDE the Governor’s office?” It was four “yes’s” and one “hell yeah!” The “hell yeah” sealed it – and someday I’ll talk about the details of that… I think much of it had to do with the kids seeing their baby brother Trig mocked by some pretty mean-spirited adults recently.) Um, by the way, sure wish folks could ever, ever understand that we ALL could learn so much from someone like Trig – I know he needs me, but I need him even more… what a child can offer to set priorities RIGHT – that time is precious… the world needs more “Trigs”, not fewer.

My decision was also fortified during this most recent trip to Kosovo and Landstuhl, to visit our wounded soldiers overseas, those who sacrifice themselves in war for OUR freedom and security… we can ALL learn from our selfless Troops… they’re bold, they don’t give up, they take a stand and know that LIFE is short so they choose to NOT waste time. They choose to be productive and to serve something greater than SELF… and to build up their families, their states, our country. These Troops and their important missions – those are truly the worthy causes in this world and should be the public priority with time and resources and NOT this local / superficial wasteful political bloodsport.

“May we ALL learn from them! *((Gotta put First Things First))*” – she adds.

Right. ;)

Stay tuned, America.

    @Jon:

“Does that means she’ll go for The Job in 1012?”

She’d probably have a better chance in 2012.
    : )

  2. Smart Guy Says:

    U People R Just JAILus!

Sarah Palin is about to BLOW UP!

Yes, that’s right folks! We have just learned through “IS” Insider Sources, that the Prez2B is about to put her camPAIN on STEROIDs!!!! Exclamation Mark. Clap. Applause and drum rolls… puhSLeeez. “IS” has just informed us that the vivacious EX-gov is putting her Prez hopes on HGH! Her Governors Humpty!

Yep! As we type, her “IC” Inner Circle team of “BS” Beaucratic Shakers are convening in D.C. to set the stage for the next Prez race. We went inside Studio B, The Situation Room and did a 360 and spoke with Hannity, O’Reilly, Blitzer, Donner and Prancer and it’s confirmed, her P-TEAM is on the move! P-TEAM Political Tactical Experts At Mucking are feverishly working behind the scenes prepping the shapely political virtuoso for the announcement. Word is the ticket could be:

    Palin and LIMPbaugh
    Palin and Newt GingRich
    Palin and Sanford
    Palin and SPITzer
    Palin and Hannity
    Palin and O’Reilly
    Palin and Ensign

Although the P-TEAM is still fiercely debating whose going to be Sarah’s running mate, LIMPbaugh says he’s the best candidate for America. When GingRich asked if his past could affect the ticket, his response was, “NO!” Newt said America has forgiven and forgotten that he called it quits just like Palin. If you are a TRUE Republican, you should be Xcited!!!! Go Republicans! Go GOP Get Others Pumped! We can do this!

Good to see you’re awake and alert! Congrats for spotting today’s deliberate mistake (ahem, cough, cough)

    Fixed. ;)

    Cheers!

    Breaking news here:

    http://thepoliticalcarnival.blogspot.com/2009/07/palin-update-indictment-pending.html

This is what I was waiting for. This kind of abrupt resignation doesn’t happen because one needs to “spend time with the family”:
This just in my inbox, from a source connected sometimes to CNN:

“Here’s a quote I got from law enforcement here in Alaska yesterday afternoon regarding Palin “a criminal indictment is pending authorization.”

    Ding!

and liars ^h^h^h^h^h lawyers are threatening all sites who repost this information. Morons.

  5. Reader's Write Says:

    It’s payback time.

The Democrat-controlled federal agencies are no doubt targeting Gov. Sarah Palin the way the Republican-controlled feds did to Democratic governors such as Eliot Spitzer and Rod Blagojevich.

Expect one or two more Republican governors to drop like flies before it’s over.

  6. American voter Says:

I’m not a big fan of Sarah Palin’s views in general, but I would like to say a word on her behalf. It wasn’t like she sought the presidential campaign as an avenue of advancement. She got picked out of the blue for the VP candidate position, and I’ll bet it was nearly as much a surprise to her as anyone. Once she got asked she tried to do her best for the team. She never claimed or campaigned that she was ready to be president before she got called on, but when she got called on she gave it all she had. Like I say, I could never vote for her on the basis of her politics, but given the circumstances I think she did about as well as anyone could. So give the lady a break; not because she’s a woman, but because she without doubt is a brave lady.

  7. witblu Says:

I first of all know that her name was not drawn out of a hat for the previous pres camp. That would just be too much of a joke on poor America I think. What I really can not get, is why she just won’t go away, Palin that is. The only logical reason I can think of for anyone to step out of a high postition, breaking a contract with voters, etc etc, is because she is about to be in some sort of legal matter, or an affair is about to be uncovered. Look back in history, yeah I’m right. According to Alaskans I saw interviewed yesterday, they don’t think she has done a single thing since she was picked by John McCain. That is a lot of months. Funny too is that all those ‘other’ scandals were just seeing the light back then too and she has been laying low since, well till now. She won’t be running in 2012, how can she be, she is still trying to get out of investigations, which I have a feeling, they found more than they expected. Watch and see.

  8. Reader's Write Says:

It’s been a rough weekend for politicians. Now news that ex-DC mayor Marion Barry arrested … again.

  9. Wonkie Says:

Conspiracy theories on Palin’s resignation are going beserk the world over – even as far as South Africa! Think you’d enjoy this lighter view on an interesting speculation about what Sarah’s higher calling may likely have been: Sarah Palin quits cartoon.

@Jon – I think you should have left it at 1012.. at least it gave us hope ;)
