Firefox takes on IE
p2pnet.net News:- The Mozilla Firefox browser is making headway against Internet Explorer. Lots of it.
Downloads hit a record 300,000 in one day, said Mozilla Foundation spokesman Bart Decrem on the release of Firefox 1.0PR, according to a PC Pro story.
Microsoft’s OS is so full of security holes that it now resembles a lace curtain more than a Window, and the release of its much-vaunted Longhorn has been put back over and over again.
Maybe Bill and the Boyz should pay more attention to their core businesses instead of trying to become a One Stop Shop for everything under the sun.
“In the last three months IE was used by 93.7 per cent of website visitors, a fall of 1.8 per cent on the previous quarter,” says PC Pro, going on:
“The major beneficiary were the Mozilla-based browsers, including Netscape and particularly Firefox, whose share rose 1.7 per cent to 5.2 per cent.”
PC Pro says according to the most recently released statistics, Apple’s Safari browser is used by less than 1% of surfers, although its share is growing. Opera claims just over 1%.
