If someone pointed a gun at me, they’d better be faster than me. I could draw my own concealed weapon and have them reeling from one round of .45 ACP in a fraction of a second, literally. Naturally, I’d also call the police….to clean up.

“Risking their lives every day” is no excuse to turn a blind eye to corruption and abuse of rights. Police officers that can’t operate to the high standards they’re supposed to be trained to deserve to have their badges ripped off and their asses kicked to the curb.

And he didn’t “deserve it.” Nobody deserves to be tasered five times in 31 seconds. Period.

Was this man armed? What about pepper spray to subdue him? How could ONE tasering not be enough unless he was on PCP? WTF? What kind of “context” could possibly justify this?

Inexcusable. I don’t care what the guy did, there’s no call for brutally electrocuting him like that.

The media carried it also.

But lets censor what happens in our own back yard.

No freedom of expression in Canada except for what they allow.

Good training addresses this.
Unfortunately, they seem to have been trained only in the execution of the weapon itself, and not so much about the various types of people they’re going to be dealing with, or how different situations should be assessed and diffused.

The Robert Dziekanski case was a perfect illustration of bad training (and possibly something else).
It was quite obvious to anyone watching the footage that this man not only had problems communicating (he didn’t speak very much English), but was already in a panic. FIVE officers should have been able to diffuse this situation without too much trouble.

But from the time the officers approached this man, they didn’t exhibit any comforting behaviour toward him, abruptly surrounding him and pulling out the tasers… causing his panic level to go through the roof! The tasers were then deployed immediately and REPEATEDLY (even while he was already on the ground!). We don’t need this type of enforcement.

These cops should have received better PEOPLE training before being handed the tasers.
How are they supposed to deal with the mentally ill, or even a simple domestic dispute, if the only thought that comes to mind is to pull out a taser whenever there’s any “tension” in the air??

I doubt the intent was ever to kill the guy. A lot of the problems found within law enforcement can usually be traced to a lack of proper training. When the adrenaline is flowing it’s probably easy to forget that these weapons are called “less-lethal” and not “non-lethal”. I’m not justifying what happened, just stating a highly probable fact.

Taser are supposed to be used to defuse dangerous situation only. Instead they are used by some cops for anything such as coercion and/or torture.

This is why the tasers must be forbiden or very strong laws should be passed to regulate their use and alow their use only in dangerous situations.

Unless one ot these is done cops will continue to kill with tasers, resentment against the police will continue to grow and nothing good will come out of this.

Unless they made tasers illegal I will for now on wear special clothing and carry a gun at anytime.

I don’t think this will make the cops safer but He! you have to do what you have to do to protect oneself!
