1st CRTC telemarketer violation notices
p2pnet news view Freedom | P2P:- The (CRTC) has finally issued the first Notices of Violation against two telemarketeers who’ve broken the (totally useless) National Do Not Call List (DNCL) Rules.
“Canadians who have registered on the National DNCL have noticed a reduction in the number of telemarketing calls and faxes they receive,” says Leonard Katz.
They have? Wonder where he got the info from, how many people said that, where they live and what the reduction percentages were.
Katz is the CRTC vice-chairman of telecommunications and, “Although most telemarketers are abiding by the rules, we will use the enforcement tools at our disposal to promote compliance,” he says sternly.
Way to go Len! You tell ‘em!
“The Notices of Violation we have issued serve as a warning to telemarketers that we will not look the other way if they break the rules and invade the privacy of consumers,” he says, not bothering to tell us who the felons were because, “As a general policy, the CRTC will not release the names of violators if the fine is paid without being contested.”
Telemarketeers, “served with a Notice of Violation have 30 days to either pay the fine or contest it before a CRTC panel,” he says.
Now you know.

All right!
Someone call “John” and tell him I will no longer be ranting about how they’ve never laid a charge.

You can be sure it wasn’t Bell they charged.

At this pace, they’ll probably tally up a whole 5 charges by the end of next year.
[and the crowd goes WILD!]
