NousePong, anyone?
p2pnet.net News:- Dr Dmitry Gorodnichy at Canada’s NRC Institute for Information Technology has come up with a way to turn you into a digital blood-hound.
He’s developed the Nouse, a mouse that’s controlled by nasal actions.
What’s the Nouse for?
"A few applications, such as NousePaint, multiple-user NousePong and an aim-n-shoot BubbleFrenzy game, have been developed to show the power of the technology," says Gorodnichy.
It uses webcams to track the, "so-called convex-shape nose feature, which is the point on the nose closest to the camera," says Gorodnichy on the NRC site. "Thus defined nose feature is rotation and scale invariant, it is seen at all times regardless of the face orientation, and makes it possible to operate with your nose as with a mouse or a joystick.
Apart from NousePong, application areas of the technology include industry for the disabled, public surveillance, security, biometrics, multi-media, immersive and collaborative environments, video conferencing, video-coding and entertainment, says the site.
