SP2 slows notebooks down

p2pnet.net News:- XP SP2 is out there, like it or not.

Is it any good? Time will tell and speaking of time, Mobile PC wondered if notebooks loaded with the upgrade were slower, faster, same.

So, "we fired it up on a few – 10, to be exact – and then ran our benchmarks on the units.

"The verdict? SP2 can make your notebook run sloooow."

Mobile PC says when Microsoft was asked if it knew there was a performance issue after upgrading to SP2, a spokesperson said MS takes all feedback on the performance of Windows XP SP2 "seriously" and "At this time we are not aware of performance degradation on PCs running Windows XP SP2".

That’s funny, says Mobile PC – "we thought we just told them that there was a performance problem."

There’ll be a feature on SP2 in an upcoming issue, it says.
