Norway Kiddie Porn ban
p2pnet.net News:- Telenor, Norway’s largest telecommunications group, and KRIPOS, the country’s national criminal investigation service, have teamed up to block online child pornography with a filter they say is one of the first of its kind.
"If police authorities and Internet suppliers in other countries follow our example, we could succeed in destroying part of the client base of a cynical, international industry which exposes children to violence and sexual assault with the aim of making money," says KRIPOS boss Arne Huuse.
There’s no description of how the filter works, but it will prevent access to web sites, "containing sexual abuse of children," say Telenor and KRIPOS in a joint statement. "Telenor is responsible for the technical solutions and KRIPOS provides updated lists of web sites that distribute such material."
Starting in October, if a Telenor customer tries to open a web site containing child pornography, "a blocking site will automatically pop up, containing information about the filter, as well as a link to KRIPOS," they say.
Several hundred sites containing illegal child pornography are currently registered in KRIPOS files.
The kiddie porn filter us free and Telenor says it’ll share its experience and its technology with other Internet suppliers.
"KRIPOS will distribute information about the filter through Interpol, Europol and other international forums that we are part of," says Huuse.

The ban on child pornography sites coming from a country which preeches openess with regard to porn movies is a good sign to the mankind. Other countries will follow this example, I hope.

Funny you should say that. Norwegian police generated 12000 (twelve thousand!) cases of distribution of child pornographic material on FastTrack in 48 hours in March of 2004 with a program/system written in house. The operation was dubbed ENEA – look it up. Looks like the RIAA is not all lies after all.
