Apple goes after the Palm Pre
p2pnet news view | Mobiles:- Apple always has been mean-spirited and now it’s going after a competing device — Palm’s new Pre smart phone.
“In a somewhat petty, and some would say Microsoftish move, Apple has updated iTunes to block Palm users,” says Fudzilla, going on:
“Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr said the update ‘disables devices falsely pretending to be iPods, including the Palm Pre’.”
But, “Palm spokeswoman Leslie Letts pointed out that Apple’s move hurts customers not Palm,” says the story, adding:
“Anyway Pre owners can stick to the older version of iTunes, move music from computers to a Pre with a USB cable or consider third-party music applications.”
That is, of course, always supposing they’re dumb enough, with all the user-friendly alternatives around, to want to pay $1 and up for tracks worth only a few cents in the first place.
