Bill Gates vs Europe
p2pnet.net News:- If the law again orders us to do what it’s already ordered us to do, then we will.
Probably.
In a nutshell, that seems to be where it’s at vis-a-vis Microsoft and the European Union which in March fined Microsoft more than $600 million and ordered it to come up with a version of Windows sans Media Player.
Microsoft is appealing the ruling, but, “We’ll certainly be ready to comply,” its chief lawyer, Brad Smith, is quoted as saying in a Reuters story.
As hard as it is to imagine a situation where a single American corporation is arguing the toss with Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden and the United Kingdom, with Bulgaria,Croatia, Romania, Turkey and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia watching from the sidelines, that’s what’s going on.
On Thursday and Friday, Microsoft and the EU will “face off” before the president of the Luxembourg-based European Court of First Instance, Bo Vesterdorf, “who will decide whether to freeze the EU’s punishment pending a final decision on the appeal, which could take several years,” says Reuters.

This isn’t surprising when you get right down to it. The North American Republic of Gates has more buying power and infuence than those pissante countries in Europe.
