Pirate Bay / Global Gaming ship still afloat

p2pnet news view Freedom | P2P:- Suggestions that The Pirate Bay / Global Gaming Factory ship may be sinking are unfounded, says GGF.

“Nobody is uncertain about anything,” according to GGF boss Hans Pandeya.

“We are more certain than ever before. There are no changes in our plan,” he told CNET News. “We’ll bring the deal to investors at a shareholders meeting, which we expect to hold in four weeks.”

As for, “ditching plans to buy the company because of some question about whether it can be turned into a legitimate business, well, there isn’t any question,” the story has former MashBoxx CEO Wayne Rosso saying.

MashBoxx  vanished into obscurity after claims and it was about to revolutionise (not to mention monetise) online music.

“Mashboxx will be recognized as the first — and only — desktop file sharing application in the world authorized by a major content owner,” it still says on its site which, from the look of it, hasn’t been upgraded for three years.

Rosso now works for GGF and CNet quotes him as saying once the deal is complete, “The Pirate Bay will no longer be a BitTorrent tracker, enabling users to find unauthorized movies and music”.

It will instead, “morph into a legal service that offers content in exchange for users’ computer bandwidth and hard drive space”.

The other day, I tried adding these new trackers that are supposed to be perfect replacements for The Pirate Bay to a couple of torrents. Know how many seeds & peers they found for these torrents? *0*.

When the Pirate Bay tracker goes down, a LOT of torrents are going to become useless. :(

  2. RossoWatch Says:

Wayne Rosso is hardly a friend of P2P. When he was running Grokster, he unleashed his lawyers to attack everyone who had an unauthorized (spyware-free) version of Grokster. Then after he moved to Blubster, Pablo Soto ended up firing him for misconduct. Mashboxx was another flop. But to give him due credit, he’s probably one of the best liars on the planet.

As Wayne Rosso has been a failure at virtually everything he’s done, it’s not comforting to know that he is now involved in the middle of this Pirate Bay deal.

All depends on good contant to involve every one.
