PC with 1000 gig hard-drive

p2pnet.net News:- If you’re looking for a PC able to record six TV channels for a week straight (with all that implies ; ) Sony can help you out.

But only if you’re in Japan, for the moment.

Starting November 20, “Japan’s Sony Corp. will begin selling a computer and home-server system in Japan with 1,000 gigabytes of hard-drive storage,” says an Associated Press story.

The $4,700 VAIO X has six analog TV tuners able to simultaneously record six channels for a week at 19 hours of programming a day, or five and a half days of continuous recording, says AP, adding:

“It also has a regular personal computer tuner for recording a seventh channel.”

Isn’t sony a leading member of both the RIAA and MPAA?
Kinda funny how they can argue from both sides of the playing field.

You have realize though, Sony’s been a player in the ‘fair use’ game for a long time. They know who really provides them their money and will follow through with popular demand even if it goes against the grain of their company - a good reason they are still in business.

I’d really rather see increased levies on hardware/media than lawsuits on end users - granted I’m groaning as I say that but if thats the price of shutting these lamers up and getting them away from waisting FREAKING TAX DOLLARS (FBI involved in company problems - I wonder if I have a bad year selling on ebay if the FBI will arrest my competition too?)… ok sorry, ranting a bit.

Companies who build our hardware could give a crap how we use it - as long as we keep buying it (note all the lovely mp3 friendly players and the crappy market for drm-only players)…

This would be a lovely p2p sharing pc lol…. if you live in the right country (or only download/share linux) - though it’s cheaper to build your own box or have someone build it for you (pricewatch.com) but oh well.
