Hollywood, Big 4 labels, laud WTO China ruling
p2pnet news view Music | Movies:- The millions of dollars invested by the Korporate Kopyright Kartels to use the US trade office to boost ‘product’ in China have finally paid off.
The World Trade Organisation has, “ordered China to ease some of its restrictions on the import and distribution of foreign films, music and print following a complaint by the United States,” says Agence France-Presse.
The decision will please Hollywood and the Big 4 record labels.
“The WTO’s ruling, which also affects Hollywood blockbusters, said China was breaching international trade rules by blocking foreign-owned companies from acting as importers and wholesales of films, music and print material,” says AFP.
US president Barack Obama will no doubt be delighted to learn the decision was greeted warmly by outgoing MPAA front Dan ‘The Joker’ Glickman (right).
Listing involved parties in order of importance, “Today’s ruling is the result of an enormous commitment from the members of the MPAA, our team, and significantly, the tremendously talented, dedicated team at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative,” declared Glickman, adding:
“The Obama Administration’s Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, under the tenacious leadership of Ambassador Kirk, brought the decision home, and I applaud them for their hard work. I also want to thank the tireless efforts of Ambassador Schwab and her team in the previous Administration as well as the many Members of Congress and Senators who supported this case.”
Money well spent.

Seeing as how the USA does not honour the WTO rulings placed on it over the dispute that Antigua has with the United States in regards to “Measures Affecting the Cross-Border Supply of Gambling and Betting Services” (See dispute #DS285 found http://www.wto.org/english/tratop_e/dispu_e/cases_e/ds285_e.htm) [ basic breakdown and consequences here in regards to zooks http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/technology/2009/07/zookz-copyrights-wto.html ]
Why should China be expected to kowtow to what the USA sends to the WTO? or for that matter what the USA asks the WTO to do to any sovereign country?
Oh wait.. I forgot.. Its the USA.. Do what we say.. not what we do.. My bad
