Songwriter’s chart of the music galaxy

p2pnet news view | P2P | Music:- There’s this really cool chart produced by Britain’s PRS (Performing Rights Society), created to collect royalties for the music industry — ie, Vivendi Universal (France), Sony (Japan), WArner Music (US) and EMI (Britain).

It depicts an incredibly detailed, star-spangled — actually, circle-spangled — galaxy and shows songwriters and composers how to navigate their way(s) around, and through, it.

It’s a huge diagram chock-full of linkages, many of them connecting symbols representing Britain’s monetary system, the pound, and including stuff like artist, songwriter, record company, accountant, mechanical copyright protection system, how to walk the dog, so on and etc.

It’s so huge we couldn’t reproduce the whole thing here, so if you’re interested in checking it out, you’ll have to go to the page where it rests.

But there’s something missing, and it’s terribly important.

See if you can spot what it is.

If  it doesn’t strike you, no worries. We’ll reveal the answer in the last post of the day.

So stay tuned …

(Cheers, Crosbie)

    What else is new?

I guess they felt they had that covered by the “distributors and retailers” balloon, apparently consumers are considered too low on the food chain for mention.

  4. maggie Says:

…but not too low to sue for file sharing!

  5. NO1UNO Says:

Sorry folks, while i agree we are not shown on that fancy chart, I AM NOT A CONSUMER!
I am in fact a customer, when I last purchased anything from the MAFIASS that is!
So please lets not play into their view of consumerism, we are not cattle or sheep to be led where they want!

    @maggie:
That’s easy, they have to be low and not well backed financially. Before they send your litigation letter, they check you out. They find out if you have any rich relatives or are rich yourself and ensure you don’t have access to a team of expert witnesses and lawyers without pleas to the public.

Can you imagine if they really just searched by IP and didn’t filter? Can you imagine if they chose someone who had money for a team of lawyers and experts? Their cases would be thrown out of court, precedents set that would prevent them from ever winning a case.
