The crtc and cbc should be totally severed from government [liberals] and should be divided into two elected parts.the first being elected by the general public [the ethical, moral and policy considerations being dictated, not suggested or asked, by the canadian public[remember them?].the second ,regarding technical decissions, to be elected by anyone with any tech background or knowledge or insight; eg; tv repair ,appliance, radio relay- cb league ,engineers, electricians and basically anyone who can comprehend technical issues and forsee the consequences or benefits of tech decissions that benefit the public, and not just industry players and politicians.

In other words,if they want to watch i love lucy 24 hours a day and not cbc propaganda and promotion of their politcal masters so be it .If they don't want journalists on the cbc /hockey night in canada or tvo's once enjoyable saturday night at the movies, they tell ,not ask ,the crtc to see to it.

it's become a form of bribery that the liberals have formed with journalists in this country.you people play nice and we'll get you a job on the cbc and all the paid guest spots your pocketbook can bare, just push our[not your ! ] agendas and get us re-elected, and hey ! maybe you can even get to become governer general or sit on the human rights commision or CRTC one day.

Just be sure to prevent any cell phone or cable competition, you know, that might make for more competitive rates , and protect our -whoops- ! I mean the CBC's interests .

The separation of public interest groups, bodies, and commisions is long, long overdue ! A society is only as good as it's media and the passive poodles in this country are never anywhere to be seen regarding this issue .

And let us not forget the useless CCTS, which the CRTC demanded be set up to handle telecom disputes. Problem is that it is funded and operated by the companies that the disputes are filed against. I know first hand (through the non-result of a recent complaint that I filed with them) that they a corporate sham of an institution.

And yes, I also signed the petition a few days ago :)

Yeah, I kinda jumped on it as soon as I heard about it.
:)

At that time, there were about 300 signatures.
At the time I'm typing this, there are 3,280 signatures.

I still think there should be another effort like this, with the theme "We need to break Bell into non-conflicting, separately-owned companies".

And the third organization that should be closed is the infamous Conference Board of Canada. It should be closed because it produces biased reports from which policy decisions affecting all Canadians are made. Here is one of their latest sponsors, Thierry Vandal at Hydro-Quebec.

Also, Competition bureau is not doing its job and must be dissolved too. Bell, Rogers, Telus and Fido have been making too many anticompetitive moves and the Competition bureau did not lift a finger.
