What’s up with The Pirate Bay?

p2pnet news view Freedom | P2P:- I just know I’m  going to be sorry for this, but there’s a lot I don’t understand about yesterday’s reported demise and today’s return of The Pirate Bay.

According to many and various reports, the guys principally behind TPB, Fredrik Neij, Gottfrid Svartholm Warg and Peter Sunde, sold the site to the Global Gaming Factory.

The fact GGF is clearly having a lot of trouble finding the wherewithal to complete the sale is beside the point. Presumably, The Pirate Bay owners agreed to the sale in good faith and yet, it’s back online.

How long it’ll stay there is of course another question.

“The Pirate Bay team has always anticipated an unwanted disconnection of the site,” says TorrentFreak, going on »»»

After their servers were raided in 2006 several measures were taken to ensure that the site could simply come back online from a new location in a few hours, and this is the first time that this backup plan had been executed.

With its reemergence the people behind the site hope to show the authorities and the entertainment industry that the war is not over just yet. Perhaps it`s only the beginning of a battle on a different front. The future will tell.

Reemergence? People behind the site?

Does that mean it hasn’t been sold and Neij, et al, are back at the helm?

If not, who’s steering the ship?

“We have, ourselves, full confidence that if all do their duty, if  nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are  being made, we shall prove ourselves once more able to defend our  Internets, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of  tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone,” says a post signed ‘TPB Crew, for now and until when needed’.

“Even though large parts of Internets and many old and famous trackers  have fallen or may fall into the grip of the Ifpi and all the odious  apparatus of MPAA rule, we shall not flag or fail.”

OK. But who are these guys, since, until indicated otherwise, GGF is the new owner and if it manages to survive, will shortly be using it for its own purposes?

Is another TPB Crew using data from the TPB clone for a new site under new control and under new management?

What’s up?

Meanwhile, whatever’s happening, and whoever’s behind it, currently, there’s a t-shirt on the The Pirate Bay.

It reads:

“I spent months of time and millions of dollars to close down The Pirate Bay and all I’ll get is this beautiful T-shirt.”

Thanks for this! I was starting to think I was the only idiot who can’t understand what is going on. :)

  2. Reader's Write Says:

Well, the sale’s not completed so the same crew as before (Not only Neij, et al, have had access to server control) are managing the site and it’s domain name… That isn’t hard to conclude, dude! *rhyme*

    Not at all!

We have some insiders information from both sides but since we are on the side of TPB we will not reveal anything about this side.

As far as the (IFPI/MPAA) is concerned, they are now wondering what the hell is going on wile they are now contemplating their own defeat for this particular battle. The effect will be the destruction of some careers.
You see in scandinavia once you do something wrong everybody learn about this.

When you do something dishonest and moraly corrupted life always catch up with you. Nobody never go away with anything. The theory that nasty stuff can be done without consequence is in the same category as the invention of the perpetual motion machine. The boomrang effect is in the law of the universe just like the four principles of thermodynamic.

Thanks you TBP for shooting down the IFPI/MPAA network in Scandinavia!

These parasites will not be ready to comme back for a very long while. . . If they ever come back!

    AMAZING MOVE!

    You vikings you rock!

The whole thing is an exercise in self-important incompetence. This is what happens when you start believing your own press releases and considering yourselves too cool to be honest with the community.

At this point, the only place these “insiders” belong is the Jerry Springer show – telling stories about how amazingly koooool they are and how it was all part of a big plan, see. REAL community leadership doesn’t devolve into self-important snickering and contradictory excuses for failure.

Game over. Time for the next round.
