Well, not really courtesy because the record label, a member of the Big 4 corporate music gang, had to be forced into honouring its contract with Roxanne whose revenge, says the New York Daily News, “was sweet indeed”.
“”Twenty-five years after the first queen of hip-hop was stiffed on her royalty checks, Dr. Roxanne Shante boasts an Ivy League Ph.D. – financed by a forgotten clause in her first record deal,” says the story.
“After two albums, Shante said, she was disillusioned by the sleazy music industry and swindled by her record company,” it says, quoting her as stating:
“Everybody was cheating with the contracts, stealing and telling lies. And to find out that I was just a commodity was heartbreaking.”
But, the Daily News continues, “Shante, then 19, remembered a clause in her Warner Music recording contract: The company would fund her education for life.
“She eventually cashed in, earning a Ph.D. in psychology from Cornell to the tune of $217,000 — all covered by the label,” it says. “But getting Warner Music to cough up the dough was a battle.”
The company, “kept stumbling over their words, and they didn’t have an exact reason why they were telling me no,” Shante says in the story, which adds:
“She figured Warner considered the clause a throwaway, never believing a teen mom in public housing would attend college.”
Warner, “declined to comment”.

The only worthy thing a record label ever did… and they had to be forced into it. Poor record label. They actually had to do something worth while.
Oh well. I’m sure they’ll steal and exploit extra hard now to make up for it.

it is good that this verdict fall before the music parasites go out of business since this is going to be soon now.
To compensate the victims of the entertainement industry terrorists after this hapen, we will have to seize the properties of their executives.
If the justice (injustice?) system does not allow this we will do this ourselves.

I read this story on Yahoo news. I love it, it’s truly awesome. Revenge is indeed sweet.

She hustled the hustlers by reading the fine print, something that they never imagined she’d do.
Good job, Roxanne. You’ve earned your way.

We need to get the word out to other Warner artists so they can check their contracts and enroll in college, as well!
