This vile act against one of your own citizens takes place against a backdrop of police and government corruption so thick you wouldn’t be able to swim in it. Come on guys! But Christian nations had similar brutal penalties for committing heresy during the middle ages. This is not an Islam problem, but a problem when fundamentalist religion and government work as one. I do agree with zebra though – these types of punishments don’t help Islam’s public image.

As horrible as this is, it’s still a slap on the wrist (pardon the pun) compared to what women have endured in other extreme Islam fundamentalist regimes, such as the Taliban.
