That’s Allison Weiss on Kickstarter, which says:
“Kickstarter to fund her new EP directly from her friends and fans. They supported Allison with cash, and she’s rewarding them with cool stuff and behind-the-scenes updates.”
With friends and the net, who needs corporate hucksters Vivendi Universal, EMI, Warner Music and Sony Music?
In another project, “Polyvinyl needs your help! Some of our distributor`s warehouses around the world are being downsized or consolidated and we either need to destroy over 10,000 records or face some high storage costs,” its says on Kickstarter.
“Destroying the records is not an option (it`s too wasteful and besides, these are great records, they`re just overstocked)! Storing the records at our warehouse is not an option (we cannot afford the storage costs). So to keep them from destruction, we`re hoping to have all the records shipped back to our office.”
Results?
382 Backers $15,526 pledged of $1,000 goal.

Strange.
Allison Weiss is signed by 100 percent records.
Looking in to who really owns that.
Sorry to seem so jaded but nearly every time one of these supposed
‘Do it yourselfers’ appears they end up being exposed as a major label
plants in disguise.
There are a whole lot of sales sites and social networking sites showing her off.
A one man/woman show would have a lot of difficulty keeping up with so many
different locations.
interesting.

It’s different if you are registered.
As a registered user I show 1 employee, 4 years in business, and 45,000.00 per year.
We’ve been saying for a long time that an artist can make a living if they work hard
and use the net to their advantage. This seems like a pretty reasonable living for
a one person show, using the internet as their promotional vehicle.
